You know we'd love to see more of your pics, Emma. It's very interesting to see how they change as they age, even the tail stripes. I keep seeing younger & smaller loaches for sale & there can be so much individual variations too. Although I never seem to find the cool contaminants like some people.

Lovely tank, zmo! Glad your thin sids are fattening up. I have a couple that were very thin but I think they may have just younger & smaller. I did treat with levamisole but it took a few months for the runts to catch up. The newer batch are still smaller than the first after a year, but i can't tel...

I agree with fatbotia, my 2 largest & darkest have different body shapes. One is uniformly chubby, the other a longer smaller head & tail end. My smallest ones from a second batch also seem much yellower on the top "chain links". I thought it would fade but hasn't after a year.

Some of my sids are even more dark & almost chain patterned all over. They are on a very dark substrate that I'm sure adds to the effect. Lots of individual variations. Yours look healthy & cute.

I agree with janma, too small. I have 6 kuhlis in a 75cm x 30cm high tank (20g long) & they sometimes swim very fast, looping all around. I left the water level below the top for the first few months until I thought they wouldn't jump out. How big is your current community tank? Maybe you can rehome...

Wow, zmo, I love your Google map. I have several maps & lists with notes scribbled all over, many sadly marked not there? can't find. It sure would make planning a fish road trip much faster & easier. Oh, to be organized...

Fresh raw veggies & thawed frozen shrimp. They don't seem to like red lettuce quite as much, I think the color may be from higher iron in part.

Try offering some romaine or leaf lettuce & like wolfram said, swords without enough iron are tastier. Mine rarely do it anymore (knock wood). The only times they were very bad was when brine shrimp got blown onto the plant.

My clowns, apparently unlike everyone else's, like rather big caves. I have both large & small, they prefer large, rock more than wood.

Ah, I do that too. But I did have to wait more than 20 YEARS to get more sids. We didn't know they had been red listed, we just kept looking & asking at each new store. When we finally found them they were tiny & didn't look quite healthy. It took all my willpower & advice from people here, but I wa...

I'd pass. Sick, too few, too expensive. You'll be able to get some healthy ones eventually, they're worth the wait. Have you asked about ordering them at another lfs? For those prices you could see about mail order. Frank is out of stock http://www.franksaquarium.com/brookstreamloaches.htm but I hea...

The sheep bolus I have (but have not used) are 184mg levamisole per pill. I can't find the dosage thing right now but maybe this will help you figure it out. I ended up getting & using the pig worming powder on all my loaches.

Great pics as usual Martin. I love the detail your new camera adds but I don't see the "fences" in the last one. Are the grayish areas raised? I can't tell even after washing my glasses although I can see them on some of the others.
