It doesn't pay to peer too closely at our own drinking water, either.

But from a pure photography point of view, those are superb pictures.

angel gets stuck stealing loach food

Yesterday morning one of my angelfish was missing, the bully of the four. Searching for his dead body, I discovered him alive and in high dudgeon, wedged sideways beneath the kuhli's shelf for who knows how long. As I said, he's the most aggressive of the bunch, especially when it comes to food, and...

My six kuhlies coexisted peaceably with the four ghost shrimp I purchased as a treat for them, even eating side-by-side.
(It was the angelfish who killed and ate the shrimp one by one. I suspect they'd even try snacking on a kuhli, if the kuhlies weren't so wary, agile and super quick.)

Julie & Julia was rather like watching a movie on TV -- in order to watch something you enjoy, you have to sit through stuff you don't. But Julia Child's biography was well worth it.

My one little African Dwarf frog is in a 2 gallon bowl, no filtration or aeration, no substrate, fake plants, and I do a 100% WC every other day, more if it's cloudy. YES, the top is covered with a piece of netting held in place with a rubber band. There were two frogs in my 20 gal aquarium with the...

Now that I've started feeding the kuhlis after the light goes off, it's harder to get good shots of them. Here they are, all six materialized out of nowhere for some tubifex worms:

Neon orange frogs -- OK, that's even worse than pastel chicks and bunnies at Easter. This doesn't affect their ability to balance electrolytes and oxygen through their skin? Let's go ahead and paint some turtles while we're at it. The bubbles in front of the froggie are stuck to the side of the tank...

Too bad you're not in the US, where we can legally buy all the levasole we want (or can afford). It's given to rehab opossums as a wormer, or half-strength purely for the immune system boost.

If you right-click on the photo of those Canada geese, you'll see the name of the file is "DrydenDecoys." I spent about fifteen minutes of slyly creeping up on about a dozen of 'em, and was so pleased with myself that they didn't spook -- until I noticed that they never moved at all, and had what lo...

Saint Dracula, it's nothing more than four caps from bottled water filled with sand, and a hunk of acrylic set on top. The heavy rock decoration keeps it all in place. Sand sprinkled over the acrylic gives the kuhlis a sense of being protected, but allows some light in so I don't need to freak them ...
