Re: Can anyone help me ID this hillstream loach?
I agree with the above: the second fish is definitely under-weight. The colors are good, but it needs fattening up to be healthy. Perhaps try and get some frozen live food into the tank with it, or maybe Repashy's soilent green (as a higher protein algae replacement).

Re: Feeding Gel Diets in a River Tank
My SoilentGreen order to Australia (Brisbane, Queensland) arrived at my local post office yesterday much to my delight. I have it sitting on my work desk beside me right now. I only went with the 150gram container initially to see if it got through customs, but I will now be ordering larger containe...

Re: Near Disaster!! (An interesting Day today)
If you can, maybe drop your water level down a few cms. 5-8 cm lower would be good. Alternatively, I use coarse filter foam that I cut to perfectly match the shape of the corners of tanks with cutouts for the filter pipework. If you make the cutouts for the pipework really small, then the foam shoul...

yeah, Tim... You should have a look and buy him if you agree it is a Kubotai. If it isn't in Aukland, then it might still be worth thinking about buying and having shipped. The weather at the moment should be good over your way for shipping fish.

Re: Shipping Large Loaches
Larger bags are made with thicker plastic, so they are less prone to being punctured by fish spines. To make extra sure they don't get punctured, the bags could be doubled up, with a layer of newspaper in between the bags. This way, if the inner bag does get punctured, the newspaper will protect the...

Re: Feeding Gel Diets in a River Tank
Nice. Your Repashy gel product looks brillant. I love the fact that it can be heat-coated onto rocks, and then placed into a hillstream tank. Simply brilliant. I continue to wish it was available here in Australia. I think I am going to have to risk purchasing some and hoping it gets through Austral...

Re: Mini Hillstream Tank
I've personally got a wavemaker in my sewellia hillstream tank. It adds a LOT of current. I have it aiming down the front of the tank, and the current then sweeps around to the back and it returns in a clockwise rotation. It does this because I have all the rocks stacked along the middle, and stacke...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
I originally started with 4 homaloptera smithi, but now I only have 2. I think the other 2 might have hidden from me in a piece of wood and I didn't realise until the wood had been relocated out of water for a few hours. Anyways, my remaining homaloptera have been with me for well over 12 months now...

That is an amazing tank, Allen. I really love the idea that there is some shistura specimins in there. I wish your food range was available here in Australia. I would attempt to self-import my own but Iam worried that they would get confiscated at the airport. I believe some of your products have fi...

I also have some pictures somewhere of the fry in a white bowl. They are absolutely miniscule. I'll have to find them and post up some more images.
