Topic: Botia staiata or botia kubotai for 125 litre juewl tank?

Different people have different opinions. I'd think a tank that size would be a tad too small. Not way way too small but just a bit on the small side. My dad keeps 12 tiger barbs in a 20 gallon tank, I think that's not enough room for them either. But they're alive and he takes care of the water. Bu...

Let me retract what I said. The first time I read your post I thought it was a 125 gallon tank which would be plenty for Straita and Kubotai. But 125 lieters is about 30 gallons which would be a tad on the small side in my opinion. I've used my 30 gallon tank to grow out small Kubotai loaches but th...

I'm not sure what Juewl tank is but I'd say both species would be fine.

I would guess flukes as well. My Kubotais had them at one point and it took several parasite treatments to get it under control. I don't believe all ich treatments will treat flukes. I've used Jungle Labs Parasite Clear in the past, and I'd recommend treating the entire tank as opposed to removing t...

I keep 3 dojo loaches and I've found they tend to lay in the low flow areas of the tank. I don't know what my gallons per hour are in this tank but it's very minimal.

I briefly kept Nerite Snails (before my Kubotai loaches flipped them over and ate them) and as I remember they will survive in fresh water but can only breed when in salt water which makes them ideal for many fresh water tanks.

In a few of my tanks I have a BN pleco and a SAE, this combination seems to do well for keeping the tank clean.

Although make sure your tank mates and water conditions are proper for both species.

I frequent several fish stores and they will call any of the three a Siamese Algae Eater or a Siamese Flying Fox.

If you look at the flying fox picture it has 4 stripes on it Dark brown on top Coppery / tan Black Light gray / silver on the bottom The SAE will only have three lines. Dark brown/gray (maybe not as dark at the picture above) Black Light gray/silver Also on the SAE the black line will extend through...

Can't say I know much about Modesta but back on the Tiger barb subject. I keep kubotai loaches with some 4-5 inch Arulius barbs which are very VERY active. And somewhat aggressive towards each other. But they leave the rest of the fish alone. My dad also keeps a school of a dozen tiger barbs and whi...

I wouldn't worry about tiger barbs bothering straita or kubotai when they're in a good sized group and 11 would qualify in my opinion.

Great photos,

It's neat to see how their natural colors help them hide.

There's a nice stand of large bamboo not too far from my house. I grab a few fallen stalks every year. If it's still green (or yellow) I let it sit outside until it turns brown (see note on this below). Then I cut it into 4-12 inch lengths (small enough to fit in a pot and in the tank), sometimes I'...
