Re: E.kalotaenia fry
TY! At the latest observations some are crossing the 1cm mark (definitely fast growing species, 2cm expected at 40 days), and more than this tank can handle

Re: Panda loach success!
Single species tanks help if you want more fry.....
My problem is that some ss tanks end up filled with fry and then juveniles and then there is no more breeding

Re: Panda loach success!
Very nice. There is something small darting to the left of the stone about 25 seconds into the movie... another fry or just a shrimp?

Re: Panda loach success!
Shrimp (at least cherry, I would think RCS is no different) is quite capable of catching even small swimming fry, like rainbow fry. Small fry on the ground is definitely in danger. Species that produce large fry (this would include pseudogastros or erromyzons) may be ok, but panda asaik produces sma...

Re: E.kalotaenia fry

Re: Panda loach success!
how many adults?
as for the tankmates: I don't think ancistrus are all that bad.... barbatus are much more of a threat and in fact shrimp is quite bad for hillstream fry too.

Re: E.kalotaenia fry
TY! BTW, the fish is *very similar* to panda loach. They are no longer in the same genus, but they used to be.... until this fry showed up I've been actually thinking about putting them together, not the time now, and if the fry makes it, no space for doing it. As for keeping it up: we'll see... the...

Re: Very "fat" Yoyo loach female.
So bad news, some good news..... mostly good :P Yes, you have to accept.... and no, you do not have to worry too much about the fish dying. Generally, loaches do not get egg-bound, eventually the eggs will be dropped (possibly because of a spawn, but most likely just to get rid of them). This may ta...

Re: Sewellia Marmorata
In re Sew03: I think Wetspot has them still... and Rachel says she is quarantining them. Shipping from her may not be too costly (PA) and her fish is well quarantined, she holds them for a month at least.
