They sound like fun
Any chance of posting a video of their antics ?

Re: Loach Talk
I picked up a few loaches at local store that I will auction at our meetings. I got some Histies, sumos and zodiacs. I have not seen histrionicas in my area for quite some time, I wish I could get two more :D When I have given my Loach presentation, I also donate a bag of loaches ( always a minimum...

I find that the berdmorei are less aggressive than the beauforti.
How large is your aquarium ?
If it is at least 4 feet long, go for it
Otherwise, if the tank is smaller, say 3 feet or less, I would not put either species of loach in there with that many other fish already there ...

Re: Unsuccessfull Botia kubotai keeping :(
I have my Tiger Barbs in a 30 gallon Barb only tank with Odessa barbs, Cherry barbs and Rhombo barbs. There is also a red fin black shark that keeps everyone in line  I would not put Ottos in there but I do have Siamese Algae Eaters that are much larger and can take of themselves despite all t...

Re: clown loaches and peacock eel
I think they are friends
If the clown loach did not like it, I am sure he would lance the eel with the blade under his eye

Re: Loach Talk
Does anyone have a picture of a loach with a snail on his nose that I could borrow? I know I have seen one with a clown racing through a tank with a MTS on his nose playing keep away! :) I wanted to use it in my talk. I want to show loaches for the crazy/funny fish they are. ha ha ... that would be...

Re: Loach Talk
Hey Tanja, I did a similar presentation to my club a couple of years ago. Since then, 6 other clubs have asked me to present it to them. I begain my presentation with a talk on how endearing loaches are, especially clown loaches, to other family members in the house who are not fish keepers. There a...

Re: Sids or striatas? Or....?
I have sids, yoyos and striatas in various aquariums. If you are keeping the yoyo, then striatas would be a good choice, at least 3, but 5 is better. I would not put the sids in the same tank as the yoyo. If you rehome the yoyo elsewhere, even your local pet shop, then I would get at least 6 sids, 9...

Re: Tell me about Fluval Canisters- or Canisters in general
If you want a strong flow of water, then the Rena XP Filstar series is a good choice.
I have XP2's on my 50 gallon tanks and two XP3's on my 100 gallon tank.
I do have Eheims on smaller tanks because the flow is not as strong from them ...

Re: Old fart rant / prices :)
My best recommendation would be to join a fish club. My club has auctions every month where we can bring home bags of fish for a few dollars. Good suggestion :) West of Toronto, there are clubs in Brampton, Hamilton, Brantford, Kitchener-Waterloo and London. Where abouts are you and where have you ...

Re: A few pictures
Need some midwater fish desperately, this is a vast aquarium which looks empty. I have some suggestions for companion fish, some nice schools of barbs, could be tiger, odessa, striped or rosy barbs. Also spanner or "T" barbs, but they do get larger than the other barbs. Barbs are mid-water fish and...
