Yes it is a good idea. I regularlly do that. Expecially all the mulm I pull up from the gravel, seems to give the plants a nice boost. I also have plants in my tanks, and I fertilize them regularlly, so there is a little more in my water. Keep in mind, the primary nutirent that will be present is ni...

While I agree, that would be a good look, it will be even more important that he nails the focus on the eyes. With a moving target like them, it is exceedingly difficult to focus where you want, and more often you get it somewhere else:) Aesthetically I agree completely, practically, it will yield v...

Mark, that is an excellent shot. I love the color and the composition is good. To bad he wasn't looking towards the camera. It is clear, well lit and the color balance is perfect. Do yourself a favor and bump up the aperture a couple stops. If the flash has the power, shooting at f11 will give you m...

I have never heard of chemical weapons, but they do have the big suborbital spines. Maybe the Arawana tasted the orange delight once, and after receiving a mouth full of hurt, second guessed himself subsequent times.

Great find Erik. I usually do not medicate my tanks and haven’t in years. But back a long time ago when I did have a need for medication, I almost always used medicated foods. Since then it is near impossible to find. Tetra used to make two foods, one for bacterial infections and one for Parisitic. ...

I pop in a few cubes frozen. The bigger loaches will take the entire thing and run with it sometimes. But I never thaw anymore. I used to thaw them in a brine shrimp net under tap water, but haven't for a decade.

Glad you caught your quarry. Any good hunt is always challenging. As for the future residents, I would go for the dwarfs as my preference, but the Polkadot is a nice fish too. However, I think you will find the general wisdom of LOL is that you will rarely be luck enough to find a Botia that eats sn...

Leave the bottle in the tank for a couple days if need be. Give them time to get used to it, and maybe they will become trained to go in there looking for food. You could try different bottles, colored and clear. I'll bet if given time they would consider a nice colored bottle home. But I would keep...

"Dojo in a Bottle" That sounds like a song.

Seriouslly though, put some food in a bottle and submerge it. They should find it fairly quickly.
