Thanks mikev. I hope you're still here. How big is each dosage of Ultra Care PX. I'd need to treat about 400 gallons of water if decide to treat all my tanks. BigAlsonline sells Ultra Care PX in 4 oz bottles for $4 each. I'd have to figure out how much to order. I do have 2 boxes (100 tabs each) of ...

I moved the fry, then checked the water. Parameters are fine. I put some slate in the tank, then put the clown in. I also medicated the tank with a single dose each of Maracyn 1&2 and Prazipro. Now the only question is should I still try to get some Levamisole? It would probably be a week before I r...

Thanks very much for the quick responses Erik and Mark. Great timing we had. It sure is nice having 2 LFSes within a mile from my house. The 1st lfs didn't have Maracyn 2, so I quickly left and went to the other before they closed for the night. They had Maracyn-Two and PraziPro, so I got them both....

Emaciated Clown Loach
Today I was cleaning the river tank, removed most of the slate, and noticed that one of my larger clown loaches is very emaciated. I imagine that the poor thing has been hiding under the slate and out of my sight for a very long time. The loach is about 6”. For now, I put the clown in my 15g snail t...

I have a piece of slate that some of my clowns scratch/flash on. I have about 20 pieces of slate and this is the only piece they flash on. I think it might have something to do with a strong cross current in the water that blows up behind into their scales or gills. It's an irratation for the fish, ...

My view on chemical defenses is changing. By checking the other forums, it seems that most clowns are doing well with predator fish. I’m starting to think that their razor sharp spines are not the only thing fending off most of these big fish. One guy said his clown "just swims right up to the Oscar...

Are you adding pure RO water to your tank during water changes? For large water changes, adding just RO water straight to the tank can cause osmotic shock to the fish. Osmotic shock happens when the TDS of the tank water is rapidly changed. RO buffers or Tap water shoud be added to RO water before a...

It sounds like some sort of bacterial problem (dropsy) or poisoning to me. What ferts do you use in your tank? UV sterilizers don't go well with some chemicals or minerals (such as chelated copper). Have you feed them any live foods? I've always had problems with tubiflex worms. They'd occasionally ...

I just started a thread at Monsterfishkeepers.com about this topic. Quite a few people there keep clown loaches with predator fish. The thread can be found here- http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14059 edited- I think you all might be on to something. I remember an episode of...
