Re: Dojos' holiday dialog
Thanks much. Someone had walked me through a photo program about a year ago, which I used successfully for awhile. Then it stopped working. Since I've updated my browsers, I may try again. Also, Photobucket. Meanwhile, I had posted some pics, I believe, in the freshwater forum. Some had my dojos in ...

messages sitting in outbox??
Once I reply to a private message and click the submit button, I notice it just sits in my outbox. Do I need to perform another step to actually send it, or will it send by itself? Is clicking the submit button actually sending it? Not that familiar with how the PM system works here.

Re: Tankmates for Weather Loaches
How long has your new tank been cycling? If you just got it, it may be well over a week before it's ready to set up. Cycling usually takes anywhere from four to eight weeks. Do you have a test kit?

Re: Tankmates for Weather Loaches
White Cloud minnows or Rosy Minnows (fatheads), glofish danios and zebra or leopard spot danios, all can thrive in cooler water, as can rosy barbs. The rosy barbs in my tank don't seem to bother the dojos. They are small- to medium in size. I have three dojos in my 65. At one time, I had comet and s...

Re: Plants for the lazy loach owner.
Anubias and java ferns have rhizomes. Never bury the rhizomes in the substrate -- they will rot. You can bury the roots and leave the rhizomes sitting on or above the substrate, as long as it isn't buried. The other alternative is to tie the plants to driftwood or rocks with fishing line (which is i...

Re: CANISTER VS HOB FILTER? HEATERS?
I have two Aquaclear 110 HOBs on my 65-gallon, and I much prefer them to any other filter. The larger ones can be a little noisy, but they're great for being able to clean easily and for the flow control valve that lets you adjust the current. I can live with a little noise, and I like the waterfall...

Re: weather loach behavior suspicious
To The Angry Loach : Keeping the lid off your tank could result in your loaches escaping. Weather loaches are notorious for escaping the tanks through any opening large enough to accommodate their size. Just thought I would warn you... As for the twirling (first poster) -- if there are changes in b...

Dojos' holiday dialog
1st male dojo: What do you suppose we'll be getting in our Christmas stockings this year? Rosy barb: probably several lumps of coal, for digging up Mama's plants again! 1st male dojo: Heck, no! Mama loves us! We'll get something good to eat! Fathead minnow: Wanna bet? 2nd male dojo: Well, I'm dissat...

Re: Breeding Weather Loaches - pic heavy
Now you'll need to focus on feeding them properly, and keeping their environment clean and well maintained. Dojos, both fry and adults, are notorious escape artists. All tanks in which they reside should have tight lids on them, and all openings in the top, such as those surrounding equipment, shoul...

Re: Breeding Weather Loaches - pic heavy
First, congratulations! My advice is to remove all, and I mean ALL other fish (even the minnows) from the tank, and also the shrimp, so there's nothing in there that can prey on the eggs or fry when they hatch. I don't know if dojo parents eat their own fry, but once they hatch, you might want to ei...

Re: New Loach Owner, need some advice.
If you can't determine it with a magnifying glass, net him out gently and gently run your fingers over the white spots. If they rub off, it's probably just sand. I would think that ick would appear on other parts of its body than merely its tail. As for other advice for keeping dojos: Cool water, no...

Keeping dojos happy
It's really quite simple to keep dojos happy. All they need are: 1. A well-balanced diet of awesome food 2. Clean, well-filtered water in a tank that's regularly maintained with a temperature no warmer than 75F, maximum. 3. A tight-fitting lid so they can't escape. 4. A soft substrate of either sand...

He's probably in that pure sparkly pond beneath the Rainbow Bridge, bragging about how spoiled and well cared for he was with that wonderful human on earth. Don't worry -- love is eternal.

Marisol, I think you are looking for the "off topic" forum. Go to the board index and post your statement there, please. This is the loach forum.
Mods, please move this.

Re: The AciaNet Image uploader no longer works ...
Thanks for the alternative link. I am wondering if it may be IE8 ... I'm going to try AciaNet in Mozella Firefox and see if it will work there. I have Firefox 12, so it should support it. Funny, though, it worked before in IE8 just fine. If that doesn't work, I'll try the new link. Thanks again. --D...
