I have a 180G tank I hope to get up and running this summer. I'm planning on having sand as the substrate in half of the tank and gravel as the substrate in the other half. The separation between the two will be PVC or ABS 2" piping that will also function as a place for the loaches to hide. I'll us...

update

update: The water was 0/0/7/7.6 Am/NI/NA/PH so there doesn't seem to be a problem there. The replacement CLs are doing fine. They're a bit larger and stronger than the previous two. These two are doing the loachy dance up and down and all around so they seem happy. The survivor is hiding most of the...

It's been a sad week for Clown Loaches.

Scary, all these posts about sick and dearly departed CLs. I'm afraid I have my own post. :( I just purchased 3 CLs, 2 of which didn't last 2 days. They both developed a bright red and swollen nose/mouth. These are babies, 1 1/2 to 2" in length. What happened? Could they have bruised themselves whil...

Good info about wild caught Clown Loachs

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23794 This indicates that the major source of CLs is still wild caught. Yet I've been told twice in stores, once in Petco and once in a LFS, that they're breed in captivity. If I go in a store and buy CLs will they be wild caught or captive ...

no

I frequently go into LFSs just to look for odd patterened CLs. I rarely find any, and those that I do find often only have it on one side.

Hi qumqats - I don't have any trouble at all getting levamisol, it's as easy to get as buying a candy bar! The only thing is, I don't know how it's used with fish - or whether it would benefit my little skinny clown loach (my daughter has called him (?) Stripes... How original eh? ) ah...

I'd like to add to the list a sticky for the ultimate posting of answers about 'skinny' or 'cronic wasting' disease. I think I have all the answers now after I've dug through the archives, but the answers I think are correct were pulled out from mutiple threads. It'd be nice to have everything summa...

I'm in a similar boat. I have three 2" clowns in a Qtank and two of them have plumped up quite nicely and grown in size a bit. Yet the third one doesn't appear to have grown ANY and is pretty thin. I've concluded that he has 'skinny disease' aka 'wasting disease'. I've started the tank on a treatmen...

I've also seem my alpha Clown Loach laying in a piece of pipe upside down with her barbels pointing up with just the ti...

I also am just noticing a few of my other tiger barbs are starting to go nose down. That's tigar barb's normal way of sleeping and also of saying 'leave me along, I'm non-aggresive!'. I have a school of tigar barbs and I've lost a couple. One was a runt that never grew much. He was the loner and ne...
