Clowns used to number around 32 or so, now maybe down to 16 or fewer not completely sure to be honest since they love to hide. The concern I have is it primarily effects clown loaches and kubotai's from what I have seen. It could just be random and nothing to worry about... but other people includin...

Round pea sized gravel is the substrate in all the tanks. Which isn't sharp in any way and I had this same gravel since before 2003. As for food, I feed algae wafers, hikari carnivore pellets, HBH African Cichlid Attack pellet, HBH Angel / Discus Flake, and HBH Meat Lovers Flake includes Earthworm, ...

Water quality issue or disease, please help

The aquarium system in question is my 1200 gallon, 4 tank central system. All tanks share the same water and are all on a continous drip water change system (the system runs through carbon blocks to remove chlorine), heating is done by hydronic heating. I got married last Sept and moved all my fish ...

Indentifcation help

Could you please help identify the species of this fish? I'm going to just post a link, this fish died and I only have a good picture of him after he passed away. I would love to know what species he is. He is in good shape but please do not click the link if it bothers you. http://www.awcinc.biz/ga...

The drip system does use a mix of cold and hot water... I guess I could just turn it to cold water only for a few days.

New Water heater and loaches.

I'm going to try posting this on the loach forum again since my last post was moved to the freshwater forum. I use continous drip water changes for all of my many loach tanks, which have many loach species, from sids, to clowns to yoyo's. I'm getting a new water heater installed today. Is there an i...

RO Water with Loaches and automatic remineralization

I'm thinking of going to RO/DI water for my horse of loaches, everything from clowns to striata's. My question is, I do automatic continuous drip water changes, how can you remineralize the water automatically? My thought is to run the RO/DI water into the sump (150 gallon sump) (1200 gallon total w...

Where does one find whatever you just said Matt? Do you have any online providers or actual product names?

Thanks.

Thanks, I was expecting the garden stuff to be somewhat "mossy" instead of ground into a powder. Thanks for the reply's.

Peat Moss

When you use peat moss with loaches, is it a finely grained powder or does it look like moss?

Which brands have you guys used?

So far so good, no new deaths. The PH was higher than I thought, so I'll probably add some peat moss slowly to see if I can bring it down some.

I honestly don't know what my KH and GH are... didn't think to get a test kit for those... so maybe that will be my next purchase.

My TDS is hovering between 155 to 165 ish or so. PH when I ran the test kit was at 7.8 which was higher than I thought it was. Where do you get the bulk air filter media that you put the peat in? As you may remember, I have around the same gallons as you do and do continous drip as well... so your m...

Multiple questions,

Where does one buy peat moss? I'm having some difficulty finding it.

How does carbonate and general hardness affect loaches?

PH

What issues would you run into if your ph was 7.8 and you kept clowns?

Does anyone else run a high ph with loaches?

My PH appears to be very stable but tends to be fairly high for most loaches.
