I agree that many fish outgrow their tanks, I have seen this with some Plecos and angels. I did not know that a clown loach would grow that tall and fat in a small tank being a sensetive fish to water quality. Unlike many fish, clown loach's appetite are influenced by their environment and water qua...

That is one fat loach. IMHO, some healthy loaches have voracious appetites. There can be many reasons from lack of competition for food with smaller loaches and other fish to the diet. I would not assume that the fish was mistreated or subjected to life in a small tank. Personally, I think that a cl...

Hi libingboy, I have noticed that the sensetivity to medications depends on the individual fish. My clowns are pretty indifferent to the addition to meds or even salt. However, I have a tiger, just one particular individual, that absolutely flipps out and gets bloddy fins at certain levels. There is...

Hi ey Uneven lumps usually form on the bellies of young clown loaches or loaches that have been fasting, when they gorge themself, like emma said. This will go away as they get older and fatter then all you see is one big lump, their belly..LOL As for the ammonia spike, there should NOT be an ammoni...

Hi Kateswan, I am always interested to know about the behavioral aspects of different species of loaches living together. I was wondering how big were the modestas and are they ever harrased by the yoyo's, chased by the YoYo's or skunks. I had a modesta that got into a terroritial battle with two mu...

hi dax, I have had a couple for about 6 years. I gave one to a friend not too long ago. They do grow fast once they start eating. Although very similar to the tiger botia, they are not as agressive to other fish and do not get as big as the tigers do. They will probably grow to about 6 or 7 inches i...

There is fights for dominance on occasion but no one fish gets bullied by the rest. The agression is spread out. It is a rough tank. The little eos is on top of the loach pecking order but afraid of the lelupis. Interesting, thank you. Reason I was asking is that I'm planning a larger tank -- proba...
