Re: Glofish

GloFish are GMO's. They were originally produced with the intent of using fluorescence as a bio-indicator of pollution. They have reduced reproductive potential as a result, I do not know about their lifespan, they haven't been on the market all that long. As for whether or not you should buy them, ...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)

The post isn't that old... I have 6 left, sadly. They are pro jumpers. All of them jumped out from time to time. They do okay in the current. Doesn't seem as if they are struggling. They do keep to calmer areas though. But they do okay. If I turn off the 3000lph wavemaker then they'll do even bette...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)

I know this is an old post, but if you're still around- how did the danios do? I got some "Fire Ring" Danios to put in my hillstream tank, but after watching them in their QT tank I thought they weren't strong enough swimmers so I didn't put them in. I'm curious to know how yours have fared.

Re: Noob Hillstream Tank Set-up Questions

It's not worth the trouble IMO. Water movement in such a small tank can be more easily achieved by other means, like a simple pow...

Re: Noob Hillstream Tank Set-up Questions

I do not have a manifold for my river tank but I do have 2 Eheim 2215 canisters and 2 400GPH powerheads on a 40g breeder and my fish look happy. The 10x/per gallon turnover is what I would. If it is a long tank, have higher GPH powerheads. I know other people use the 20x/per gallon to be safe as hi...

Noob Hillstream Tank Set-up Questions

Hello all! This is my first post here, so here goes. First off, I want to say I have read everything I can find on this subject (not that there's a whole lot out there) and still have a question or two. I have a 20 gallon Long tank I was planning on setting up for some hillstreams. But I keep readin...
