what a nice big tank! I think having a big group of rasporae is a great idea.
I like that they have plenty of swim space. Who cares if it is not TOTALLY asian, The fish do not know from where they come!

i live in North CArolina, so am not sure if this is helpful, or not. If I were in your position, I would try petsolutions.com or Foster and Smith. they will sometimes have a "reasonable" loach collection, albeit a little pricey. it just seems strange to me that only one fish in the tank would be affected by stray voltage. If there were random shocks, wouldn't you think it would do that to ALL The fish? Makes me think there may be some other issue going on in the tank,,,maybe bullying by another fish or fishes? social issues...
