Using a second filter is perfect (if you have the space an funding) You can really clean 1 of the filters very well under a running tap. The other filter will still have all the good bacteria in it so the tank does not suffer a lot (if at all) from the bacteria you just killed under the tap. A secon...

I can very much recommend the Eheim pro. 3 series of filters. I have recently bought a 2073 from that serie, and am very content with it. It delivers a very decent 1050 ltr/hr. The filter has 7,4 ltrs of content for lots of filtersubstrate. It is also dead-easy to install and get running again after...

I have 2 garras in both my tanks. (150ltr community/ 60ltr hillstream) Both tanks have 1 bigger more colourful garra with lots of tubercles, and 1 smaller less colourful with very few tubercles. The ones in the hillsteamtank are less coloured, but thats probably because they are very new to it (1 we...

They are probably hillstreams yes. They are however probably not suited for your tank. They require low temp. of around 21/23C They need very high oxygen amounts and prefer loads of current. ( I keep mine in a 60ltr tank with 2900ltr/hr circulation, and they love it! ) Also they are pretty lousy alg...

I have one P. Myersi with only a few yellow dots on his back.
Pangio's have a very varied pattern.

UV-lamps inhibit the growth of floating algea.
You know, the stuff that makes your water turn green.

The lamp kills those algea and makes them stick together so your filter can pick them up.

At least that is what my experience with garden ponds tells me.

Those are some great looking, and huge, loaches they have there!
It makes my big sewellia look a bit sad really.

But its great to try and educate people in giving these special fish a good home.
