If it's a nemacheilid, then you're probably looking at a size of approx 10cm (4"). Can't be more specific as it's not clear yet whether these are a new species or not. Cost is something I couldn't comment on as there are so many factors that dictate fish prices.

Hi sh79, There are a small number of nemacheilid loaches in the trade at the moment, going under the 'Borneo Python Loach' name tag. They are said to be found alonside Kottelatlimia hipporhynchos . Did the ones you saw look anything like the fish in the second pic here? http://forums.loaches.com/vie...

Hi bookpage,
Several members of the Yasuhikotakia genus display vertical stripes as small juveniles. These tend to disappear as the fish mature. This old pic from Ken may be of interest:

Hi Dave,
The Tropical Fish Finder website can be very useful. Maidenhead Aquatics @ Beverley have Y. cruciatus listed, but best to give them a call before you travel to make sure they are still in stock:

Stone loaches (B. barbatula) can attain 8"+.

Sorry to hear it didn't make it.

The pic is not the best, but it looks like it could be Barbatula barbatula:

Hi Sharkscott2,
I take it that by 'Purple Passion Danio' you are referring to Danio roseus? This link might be helpful:

This is a tricky one! I am convinced these fish are different to V. cinnamomea (some of them look to have what could be described as 'tiger striping' across the dorsal surface), but looking at papers on both V. euepiptera and V. cinnamomea , they are quite difficult to differentiate. I will have to ...

Hi newshound, Sorry to hear about your Denisoni barbs. I don't suppose they were bagged with oxygen? If not, I really would think the cause is lack of oxygen, even if it was a move to a place only 10 mins away. These fish are a real nightmare for shops to import and sell as they have such a high oxy...

Hi kaffinated, Are you able to take any photos of these wrigglers? There have been instances of weather loaches breeding in aquaria, but I just wondered if these are definitely babies or whether they could simply be planaria? These can come about if there is uneaten food in the gravel, and they look...

Hi Kelly, Digging is a natural behaviour for Hoplo cats ( Megalechis thoracata ), so they are not a good choice for a planted set-up where they will happily go around uprooting plants. A soft sand substrate will be kinder for their long sensory barbels too, as some gravels can be a bit rough. Hoplos...

Re: Heads Up

It is currently a new season for many of the botiids, with small (less than 3 or 4 cm) fish appearing. These include B. rostrata , B. almorhae , B. histrionica , and B. kubotai amongst others. Would you by any chance have any pics of those small histies :?: Are they wild caught or farm bred :?: It ...
