This is an illness?
Geeze.... I figured it was either a skin tone or abrasion associated with scrapping, as it seems to come on after an evening of heavy clicking.
Doesn't seem to occur on the other loaches- at least not in the same way.

Pattex?
Pretty waterproof, correct colour, readily available and reasonably inexpensive...
Mainly a question of toxicity.

Danio or gourami. Or hatchetfish. Or African butterfly fish, though they will eat small/baby fish that come to the surface... Festivum also are top, no?

They're plant pots for lilies to go into a pond that will have fish. Once I set the geotextile I'll forward some photos. I've posted on the project here and there on this forum and others. This wood isn't shiny or greasy like teak or cedar, it's just dense. Lovely stuff as well. It's (closely) relat...

Having it/them built out of a proper tropical hardwood called Broadleaf ( Terminalia latifolia ) which is reputed to be bulletproof in water. Our kitchen counter is made of the stuff- fantastic. It took two of us to lug a 7' 2x12 up one flight of stairs and it took two car-jacks to squeeze it into p...

Yes, plants work. Long filamentous plants that don't rely on roots for nourishment would be my suggestion. Set them in a little pot of gravel and mush (look up potting mixes) and trip them every month or so. Also think about changing from gravel to sand- it moves more with current/fish motion so the...

Keith! Just the man I wanted to hear from!
So hot-glue is out. Fair enough. Silicone was option #2, but will it stick to (raw/rough, but clean) wood?
Will silicone work to stick an air-stone to wood?

How about these liquid-nail-type deals?

A couple of years ago my wife caught (HER) cat looking at her with a certain look on his face, and lovely blue betta fins coming out of his lips. She yelled and threw a towel and he bolted. The betta was found in the grass 50' away about 10 minutes later, was returned to his tank (with brick on lid)...

Waterproof glue for wood

Is there a glue or filler that can be applied to wood on land and will remain in place and/or stuck for a while (>24 months) underwater ? I need to fill some cracks and cover some steel nails on some hardwood planters. Am hoping that good ol' (cheep) hot-glue will do it, but not too fussed. Might ev...

Your loaches should be fine. The dry season leaves them in toasty puddles until the rains come again. 90 is very warm and too warm for healthy function in the long-term, but actually isn't all that much for now and then. Tropical fish should be tolerant of tropical conditions.

Out here it's either "get creative" DIY, import it at some idiotic cost or do without. I prefer the first- keeps my brain from melting.

Book, Clowns are from Borneo and Sumatra- real equatorial stuff. They are the last to show annoyance when my tank gets to 31+C in the summer and remain fully active (though I'll admit it takes a month to get that warm). I'd suggest you not drop the temperature, but increase it further: 90F should ca...

Animal Planet (TV channel) has a bunch of shows that vilify animal cruelty complete with faces and addresses. Write them and get them to do shows on shi.... sorry, substandard pet shops generally, and fish-shops specifically. It is a harsh commentary on our society that cruelty may be defined and pu...

Glenna, at risk of hijacking the post, I raise my own California Red Wrigglers in a big tupperware box on the balcony. Don't do it this way ;) Plenty of info on internet and can buy worm-stock on-line as well. No, doesn't stink if you don't overfeed. Problem is it's tough to gauge what is enough ver...
