Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Thank you very much for sharing your expertise here odyssey! I will see what I can do concerning the rocks. I do have some small rocks which I can use. As in my previous post, some of my Gobies ate the brine shrimp I put in the tank for the Homaloptera Smithi. I hope the Homaloptera Smithi will eat ...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
I throw in some Brine Shrimp in the river tank for those lizard loaches, but the Gobies ate some of it. I've heard that they should only get vegetable matter in their diet. Can this cause trouble?

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Thank you. I'll experiment a bit, and will also be on the lookout for these "gel" foods.

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Thank you very much! I have tried feeding blanched cucumber with no success, and some BBS, and white mosquito larvae. Should I turn off the pumps when feeding the thinks like BS and larvae? I will try to get some algae wafers/spirulina tablets for them. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, here's a newe...

First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Hey there. This is my first tank log on here. This is also my first river setup. I'll show you some pictures but I need some help/advice too :) It's a standard 3ft (100l - effective about 85l after all the scaping and sand) with a river manifold under the sand, with 2 X 1200lph powerheads. I also us...

Re: Too much food at once?
You mean Andre? I found him in the members list ans there's another member, Trevor Pleco, which is here in Cape Town which I have seen on other local forums. Seems like Andre is quite a specialist and I might be in touch with him.

Re: Too much food at once?
Yes I'm from South Africa. I know where I can find more of them but it will cost me a lot. It has to be shipped +- 1500km.

Re: Too much food at once?
I have 1 dario, 1 almorhae, and 1 garra. I would like to get more dario and garra's but they're hard to find down here in SA. I will get more almorhae some time as I know loaches are social fish.

Re: Too much food at once?
That was the kind of answer I was looking for. Thank you very much. So I feed flakes about 3PM each day, frozen brine shrimp or frozen white mosquito larvae once or twice a week, and then feed a piece of cucumber once a week or two. I'll keep it like this but try to feed a smaller piece of cucumber ...

Too much food at once?
I have a Botia dario and a Garra taeniata in a tank, along with other fish. I often feed pieces of cucumber to the B. dario and Garra. The Botia will sometimes eat the flakes I give my other fish, and also like the brine shrimp and white mosquito larvae. I think the Garra gets enough food from what ...
