Very nice stuff, the Cobitis sp should be C. striata, which occurs in japan. http://tanzawa-sky-club.air-nifty.com/photos/uncategorized/2010/11/21/cobitis024.jpg any ideas about the right one? Looks very similar to my unknown Cobitis: http://sandkauer.de/Arten/Cobitis_sp1/Bilder/Cobitis_sp1_8.jpg ha...

Hi Tanja, from the top it looks like more a Lepidocephalichthys or Kottelatlimia than a horceface to me. The caudale looks a bit forked, isn't it? If it so, we could limit the possibilities. Only a few loaches of this genera (L. and K.) have forked tailfins. I think Kottelatlimia has never forked ta...

Hi, I don't use very strong pumps, only Aquaballs because the filterhead is good to close out of the box. No "tricky" workings with gauze and tube pieces to secure the filter outlet. I've lost a few pangio who wants to visit the filter through the outlet. With the "EHEIM loach safe filter" no more a...

Is this a H. tweediei?
Hi,
further to this thread: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=19874 I would have your opinion to this Homaloptera. Is this a tweediei?

Thomas

Hello aurora, the small red markings on the tail reminds me of S. poculi. Other ideas were S. mahnerti and S. vinciguerrae, but both have more red in the tail fin. It is not easy, I have loaches bought as Schistura subfusca (also very similar to yours) but this is a synonym to Nemacheilus subfusca. ...

Thanks chupo, I wish I could keep a european Cobitis or Sabanejewia someday. I have "only" few kinds of Asian Cobitis. Ok, I'm very lucky with them, but european loaches would be even a bit better. :) I should try to get some C. taenia next spring. I know about at least one breeder of this loach in ...

You are right Mark. fishbase only calls only three different species of cobitis in croatia, but in the "Handbook of European Freshwater Fishes" are some more. Such as your C. bilineata and I could imagin that this is a good hint. I don't think that this is C. elongatoides , but you are right again, ...
