I can't help with R/O but a little with sand. Swimming pool filter sand is what many people use. It can be white or tan colored. I'm trying it in a small tank, not sure I like the white. Other people use play sand for kids from home depot-type stores. It tends to be finer grained so some worry it ma...

I feed romaine, zucchini, cucumber & peas. They like them & it helps keep them from eating my plants. Gives them something to do. I'd say try the aubergine but maybe just before a water change in case it gets mushy & falls apart. That's what happened after a short time when I gave banana. There were...

Hi nupsan, sorry your clown is ill. Did you do a water change after the levamisole treatment? Are you still treating for ich (at half dose for loaches?)? 2 weeks is good otherwise it can come back. My clowns & barbs ate less after a second dose of levamisole, I did 3 treatments @ 40mg/gal, 48 hours ...

I had done 3 doses every other day & the fish didn't lose their appetite until after the second dose. The after the 3 treatments I did a final water change & it took another day or 2 for them to get back to normal. You had asked if anyone noticed that effect & my answer was yes. Did you just do 1 do...

CK, I gave 1/2 a pea at dinner & it's gone now, or at least I couldn't find it. I remember that I had tried them in the past a couple times but no evidence they tried it. Hard to find after the pea lost color too. The striatas ate more pea than usual too. Water changes seem to make them extra hungry...

You do have a small quarantine tank to use for new &/or sick fish right? If not that should be a priority so you can keep an eye on them for a couple weeks. Just a 10 gal (or even 5) garage sale tank & heater with a piece of pvc pipe or fitting will do(keep the water level low if no cover). I'd thin...

Hi CK, I have 1 very fat sid too. It's the longest too. The only veggies they touch are cucumber & zucchini but I don't remember trying them on peas. Are these the same sids you thought might have a bacterial infection? How did they do? I gave mine 1 treatment of levamisole a few weeks ago just in c...

Why do you only have 1 yoyo? He needs friends or to be returned. You should work on keeping the fish you have happy before getting a new species. As Graeme & Emma said, 5 are needed for a group, with 3 being the bare minimum. You won't get to experience their real behavior & their long term health w...

How many of each do you have already? It's not clear if you have 2 yoyos or 2 aggressive ones of a larger group. I agree with Graeme, you should have a group of each species. I'd think a group of kubotai would work with either. I'm setting up a 75g for striatas & sidthimunkis, 6 of each. I've hardly...

TammyLiz, I'm sorry for your loss. Not to be bossy but in your expectant condition you should be extra careful with diseased fish & drugs. I'm pretty sure I've read some of the dyes like malachite green &/or methylene blue & some antibiotics are not good for fetus health. I don't know about wormers....
