In my experience and my opinion they do not tolerate salt at all well so don't use it. It isn't necessary and certainly not with salt intolerant fish.

They can be feisty buggers at times. Mine used to pester and attack the Y.modestas that were 6" bigger and probably outweighed them by several hundreds. Akin to attacking Bismarck with a potato gun whilst sat in a dinghy.

I agree with Mick. They are definitely not egg laden. I'd say they are just full bellied.

It depends on the tanks footprint. If the tank is a normal shaped tank then I'd be inclined to say that it will be too small in the long run. The minimum size I'd recommend is 60cm x 30cm (height is not too important to Pangio species). Although they aren't large fish they are active, especially whe...

My money is on B.striata. Looking at the tail and body markings. One of mine has a much larger head in comparison to its body.

Absolutely beautiful fish there and a shame we are denied (rightly or wrongly) the chance to import and keep them here in the UK. Those Bitterling species are stunning.

Shouldn't be a hassle. I keep these species together in the same tank with no problems.

If you hold the food in your hand, the scent of the food will excite them and eventually they will overcome their fear and shyness. This may take time but eventually is worthwhile.
