Hi Ant, I know it's frustrating, but Chefkeith is right- they are little magicians and they can hide in places you totally wouldn't expect. When one of mine was small, he liked to stuff himself inside a crevice that was inside a hollow decoration. I've had them stay in caves for days on end (at leas...

Anchovies really do add wonderful, salty flavor...but it's generally better if I don't know they're in there also. Bristly little buggers unless they're pureed. Ken, I meant to tell you, I recently made your sauerbraten recipe, but with fresh onions, ginger puree (jar variety). Used brisket and made...

Just to add to the garlic endorsement- my clowns seem to love one food or another for some time, then suddenly lose interest in it. Rubbing garlic on pretty much anything they refuse initially gets it snapped right up when I try the same food again!

Oilhands- it's tough to tell without a pic, but if they seem to be behaving normally, water parameters are good, and aren't showing obvious signs of illness (such as flashing against gravel or decorations in the tank, or hanging near the surface, gasping breathing, etc), I'd say that all is likely w...

For me, frequent water changes and keeping an eye on the nitrates, pH and kH works fine. Generally speaking, if the pH is too alkaline and the nitrates are spiking, there's too much 'stuff' in the water. Best remedy in this case is a 40% water change- there's lots of chemical 'balancers' and additiv...

Oilhands, are you possibly seeing redness in the area of the gills? Are you able to post a pic of them?

TDS refers to the quantity of "stuff" dissolved in the water, whether magnesium, calcium, sodium, or anything else. This is important because it controls how fast water moves into the fish. Pure water would pass through the fish's skin very quickly, which water with a lot of other stuff dissolved in...

No problem. One of my kids taught me to do it when he was about 12. I'd never have figured it out on my own! Nice looking clowns :D Hard to tell specifics from your pics, but they look fine to me. Clowns tend to vary a little bit in coloration, and your dark one doesn't look ill, he's just dark. I d...

Hey there- all you need to do is go back to your Photobucket acct, open your album, and under each of your pictures you should see 3 options- Direct Link, HTML Code and IMG Code. Just click on 'IMG' and you'll see a brief message that says 'copied'- then you just click again in the Loach Forum where...

I recently found, and of course, had to purchase two skunks...mostly because they never have anything but clowns in my little berg of a town. I put them in a qtank with lots of hiding places. They never left each other alone. I was amazed that such a small, cute fish could be so ruthless! Unfortunat...

Seriously, Jonathan, I don't think raising the price to $25 or even a little more would be a problem- it's for a great cause, and folks know that it's a charitable donation. I have one, and it's a really nice quality shirt, too. People pay $40 and up for crappy band t shirts at concerts all the time...

Yes Tina, your snakeheads will die. As will you and I and all of my cherished loaches at some point. It was a comprehensive statement.

Once again, you will NOT find anyone here who is going to tell you to feed loaches to another fish.
