I have a rocky tank with a lot of open water in the top 1/2 of the tank with hiding spots in the lower half. I have tons of current and subdued lighting. I had ~20 giant danios in with 13 clowns. I removed them since their nervous behavior transfered over to my clowns. All the darting back and forth...

Pangio oblonga?

Does anyone have a best guess to how long it takes a fry to grow to full adult size for these guys? I bought 5 of them early this fall and I just counted 6 in my tank. I am currently searching for more. I have a lot of sand/good hiding places and finding the 5 i thought i had was difficult at best. ...

I am saddened by this and would be upset myself if this happened to my fish. So, installed a temperature alarm up on my tank. I have always used 2 lower wattage heaters with 2 different settings rather than one monster heater in my larger tanks; one kicks on a lower to mid temps and the other from m...

Video from a late night feeding. The largest loaches are too fat and lazy to come out and feed so the littles guys are out getting a snack. The oddballs are the kribensis and synodontis eruptus. The background noises are my parrot, just a couple of grrr noises and whistles :) Late Night feeding thin...

Your tank is looking good. Thank you Keith. The larger loaches are filling out nicely, but I do have some smaller ones that just will not grow. They are not skinny, but they just have been left behind by other tank mates of the same species. Here is my latest find. I have had this little guy for se...

I know i have not documented my loaches lately... so I took a video with my phone real fast during feeding after work today. The quality is not the best, but you can see my clowns very nicely. My other loaches are hard to make out beyond smaller fish shapes :) CLICK ME-->Loach tank after 8 months En...

I use RO water only. I fill 2/3's of a trash can with peatmoss, then add non-treated RO water to raise the PH to 6.8-7.

So how do you go about doing this? Do you start the process a day or so before changing water, or can this be done the same day as the waterchange? Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but I'm interested in this as well. My current set up allows water to go throw almost as fast as i put in it. If i p...

Seems like a good method. Will the filter floss need changing, or is it just there to slow the waterflow? Besides filtering the peat of course. I change it with the peat moss. It is there to prevent the peat moss ending up in the "treated" water. However, the waterflow in this set up is extremely s...

Hi there, I have the same problem as you do and here is how I got around it with very little cost. Ph down for vast amounts of water is down right ridiculous. So, the 1st link is the site I 1st found on google and used his idea. The 2nd link is just another site that is quite informative. Lastly I a...

If you dont mind shipping north to Iowa I will take them. I have a 220g tank and a 75g sump. Moving ~700-800 gph between the 2. I have 4 circ pumps moving a total of 5,300 GPH in a circular flow pattern in addition to the sump/return flow. I have 13 clowns in there, 2 babies with cool patterns at ~2...

The conventional wisdom has been: *The higher the salt and pH levels the better protein skimmers work. *Skimmers take advantage of the higher surface tension of saline water to skim wastes off the surface. *The skimmer would take little to nothing off the surface in a freshwater A good site with inf...
