Re: cancel the panic
I know what you guys mean. The first time my clown loach fell asleep on it's side I freaked out convinced I'd somehow killed him. He got up, did a happy dance, and I spent the next few minutes trying to get my heart to beat normally. LOL.

Re: Camallanus Worms
I bought a worm killer called fenbendazole. It's the same stuff they use to deworm dogs. This one online company makes a flake fish food with it and it really helped me save my tank. Here's the website. That worm is a nightmare to treat! I've read you need to watch the tank for months after the trea...

Re: What's wrong with my water, and what am I doing wrong?
I've used Tetra SafeStart and it has helped on occasions where my tanks crashed. Luckily, that only happened at the start and now they are more stable. I would recommend you look at your process. How are you cleaning your filter? Are you rinsing in aquarium water (media) or are you using sink water....

That's great that you found that out! I keep spares of the impellers and also all the actual rubber seals for emergencies. Basically, there is no shop that carries spares of that stuff so it's best to have it handy.

Re: I want to know about your lighting set ups!
I use Seachem's Excel for my tanks as I'm scared to do the CO2 system. I tried once and nearly killed my ghost knife. I actually had to dump him into my other tank to revive him as he almost died. At this point, I'll stick to using the liquid stuff. You still need to be careful though as it can hurt...

Re: Tell me about Fluval Canisters- or Canisters in general
I have two types. I have the Filstar version and also the Eheim versions for my 75 gallon tank. The Filstar is a good filter but I found it wasn't handling the waste of my fish. I bought the mid range one and then decided to add a canister by Eheim. I use the traditional version of Eheim. I can tell...

Re: confessions and aspirations of a lazy fishkeeper
I have a python like device but I've recently switched to putting the water into a large trash can. That's what my aquarium store does. I use a pump (big one) attached to a hose to put the water into the tank. I fill it up, treat it with Seachem's Safe, then I wait an hour to start emptying my tank ...

Re: POWER OUTAGE BACKUP IDEAS
You know, I've always wondered about this...does the bacteria die in the canister filter because it suffocates? Luckily, I haven't had any huge blackouts and no hurricanes hit yet but I was curious about this one only because I'm wondering if the media would survive better out of the canister filter...

My Black Ghost Knife
He's really turning into a darling. He lives in my tank with clown loaches, yoyo loaches and a variety of others. I feed him regularly though my loaches are now competing for the bloodworms and have learned to race up while he's eating to steal the ones that accidentally bypass him as I squirt them ...

Re: Khuli loach jumped
I'm always amazed at what they do. Mine love my Carolina Cabomba plants and tend to climb them. It's pretty funny. I've found them in the oddest places. I did discover that raising up my intake reduced the number that hid in my filter (always paranoid) and getting a deeper tank helped. I think they ...

Re: Khuli loach jumped
If it makes you feel any better, I had a khuli loach who dove out of the tank while I was working on some of my plants. I didn't realize it until I looked down and spotted him in what looked like half a teaspoon of water that was in the corner of a bucket. He must have fallen at least four to five f...

This is a photo of my Yoyo loach whose convinced he's hiding even though more than half of his body is hanging out. He's taking a nap in this position.
