Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?
Pseudos are great fish. I wouldn't regret getting them. They also might spawn for you. I have some in with Sewellia and there is no problem. The Sewellia can handle them fine.

Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?
If you can't separate the p. cheni, try adding more rocks, pieces of slate, etc that block sight lines and provide hiding places. Also, try feeding in several lower current areas of the tank to disperse the fish. I have been able to do that with a couple of mixed hillstream tanks. If you can, though...

Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?
You might try taking some spinach leaves, placing them in a bowl and pouring boiling water over them. Cover the bowl and let them sit for 20 min. or so adding a little more boiling water from time to time. After the 20 min. drain the water and put the leaves in the tank, anchored by rocks. Sewellia ...

Re: hillstream loach setup
One thing you need to consider with that much flow is where will the food settle and will the fish be able to even find it in torrent conditions. Yes, hillstreams live in streams with high flow, but after keeping and breeding them for over about 14 years now, I have noticed that they do like shelter...

Re: Hypergastromyzon
That's odd that he suddenly became aggressive. I have Sewellia with gastros and they do tend to dominate but most of the time its tolerable. You might try putting food in several places in the tank. That works for me.

You probably need to post this on the loach forum section instead of here. Many will probably not see it.

Re: Hypergastromyzon
Mine are doing fine. Thanks for asking. I see all three most of the time now and have seen them feeding on bloodworms and brine shrimp. I have never tried blanched cucumber for any of my hillstreams so maybe I'll give it a try. I usually use spinach leaves steeped in boiling water for hillstreams bu...
