I have used the Koralia pumps and love the high flow but dispersed and gentle. So I figured a while ago that I'd try the MJ mods, the Sure Flow. The Sure Flow has one problem though, its intake is over a smaller area than the Koralia and it has much larger holes. So more suction and easier for fish ...

I just wanted to agree with everyone else. But as long as they are babies the 20 should be fine for now but I'd definitely get in the habit of doing a regular water change. To many its a shock how much water change you should be doing, as most pet stores will only tell you like 25% a month but that ...

My guess would also be planaria, a quick search reveled some basic info you can reed at http://www.aquariumcorner.com/planaria.htm BTW, just a kindly suggestion to try in the future to shrink your pics down a bit or if you want a larger picture than just post a link to the pic instead of the actual ...

I've also heard of folks buying shrimp, mussels, etc from the grocery store and chopping them up, etc, that might be an easier alternative to setting up another tank and raising snails. Just sure you dont have clowns with the skinny diseases (chronic wasting syndrome) as this seems to be very common...

Yeah, snails are easy to raise. Id just start with a handful of pond snails or ramshorn and put em in a smaller tank you might have, especially a planted tank, as long as it is loach & puffer free. Or you can just use any old container really. I also have a half whiskey barrel outside that I fill wi...

Adam - franks hasnt had them for some time. Munkee - unless our species database is wrong it appears they are both sub tropical. Zodiac are listed as 68ºF to 79ºF (20-26°C), and most hillstreams are showing 68ºF to 75ºF(20-23.8°C). But yeah, looks like 76 is going to be slightly warm for the hillies...

I've never kept hillstreams, so experts please correct if I am wrong, but it appeared to me the care is about the same between the zodiac and hillstreams, and I was planning on setting up a river tank with both perhaps this year sometime.

Yes I am thinking the same way. However, the smallest shoal even if I added another species would be 12 I think, and if it were just 1 more species, I might even make it 24.

bump

Just seeing if anyone else wants to take a vote :D

So far Kubotai seem the most popular followed by just getting more of what I already have. My original choice, Dario, has no votes

(BTW I wont be ordering based solely of these votes, just curious what others thoughts are thats all).

What other loach should I get?

I am struggling to decided what to put with my clowns and striata in my 240g. I plan on around 8-12 clowns (currently have 6 but plan on a few more) and 2 dozen striata (currently have a dozen, thinking about 1-2 dozen more). I'd really like to add 1 more species of loaches. I'd also like something ...

^ No kidding! 8) I'd still say you should have a lot more clowns though. Just curious, do you have lots of decor in the tank? Driftwood, rocks, caves, plants, etc.? They will be at their best when there are plenty of hiding spots most say. But probably, they just need some time to settle in. If I ha...

Went there today... man that place was packed. Didnt see any new or unusual loaches though. But they did have a lot of small kubs... they'd be $5 ea for the sale thinking about maybe 20 of them for the 240g instead of dario. $6 for sids.

I have actually thought about taking a road trip (its four hours one way) to check it out again. I guess this weekend would have been good if for nothing more than the sale. Youll have to let me know if you decide to take a trip up... maybe we could meet up there or something, or anyone else that m...

Jim - I am surpised of your comments, the AA in columbus has more loaches than any lfs I've personally seen (not that I've been in very many though of course), I've never seen a triangularis, rubidipinnis, or even striata at another lfs but seen them all there. And up until the last time I was in th...
