Cross-species socialization (poor lonely blue)

Hi all, Been awhile since I've stopped by. Hope everyone is doing fine! I'm looking for some advice on a sad, lonely Blue Loach I recently spotted in a LFS. He is in a bare 65g display tank with some very large fish, none of which are loaches. Looks a little anxious, but otherwise seems to be hangin...

Boy I hat moving... but I am really excited to get into our new house and start enjoying our new backyard (the Adirondack Mountains!)

Moving 75g, 5 hour drive

Hi all, We are moving about 5 hours away from our current home. I have read several other threads about how to pull this off but I want to make sure I am not missing anything obvious. My fish are in a 75 gallon tank (4 clowns, about 11 small/medium dither, 5 cory cats, and a pleco). All I have as a ...

In theory. I like this idea - a lot. It is essentially a move to promote proper fish care. However, in practice, what are the chances that a store like Petco will be able to do all that it takes to accomplish this? Are they going to greatly improve and monitor the health of the fish they sell? Are t...

My recent experience with Ich did not line up well with the Sticky post here. In particular, it seemed to contradict the instructions given with the meds themselves. Especially this: 6. Be patient and resolved. Wait a minimum of two days before dosing the tank again. Some aquarists have had success ...

From my limited experience... it seems possible to beat back an Ich outbreak in such a way that the outbreak seems to be over, but the ich organism still persists. Laying low, waiting for the right conditions or a stressed fish to break out again. I recently stopped treatment after several days of a...

I tried a python and it just didnt do the trick for me. I *think* the problem is that the water pressure on my sink just wasn't strong enough to produce enough suction. It would only pick up the smallest and lightest of debris in the tank. And it seemed to waste an awful lot of water. I would love t...

I hesitate to even post for fear of jinxing myself.

But the tank seems to have stabilized. I haven't seen flashing in about 10 days and all of the fish are active and happy.

This was just shy of a month at 2 tsp per gallon of kosher salt and 86ish temp.

I really don't know if 10 will be too small. I tend to get anxious about the amount of room my fish have to enjoy, and prefer to err on the side of too much tank, instead of too little... but it sounds like others are successfully keeping them in a 10g. I'm fairly certain though that you will want a...

I've got 3 in a 20 long, and I worry that I am pushing it. When they really get moving around it seems a bit cramped for them.

They are a really fun fish to keep (when they are active of course :))

Reading your post was like Deja vu for me. I went through (and believe it or not, I think I am still going through) something very similar. You can read about it here: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=18171 There is some great info provided in that thread about different strains of Ich and ...

The spot does seem a little "big" for ich. It isn't really salt speck sized. Only other thing it seems to line up with is Flex, or some sort of fungus. But given the flashing and the fact that salt cured the hospital tank fish, I'm not taking any chances - like you say. I started a drip a few hours ...

Never saw ich being so resistant before. What is the salt dosage and water temperature right now? I reduced the temp and started small water changes after all symptoms were absent for 3 or 4 days. Only thing I can think of is that something was still there that I didn't see. As I mentioned a few da...
