Did it always carry the light body colouration? Hi Graeme, i would say yes if I remember correctly. The caudal was not really convex, more a line. But not concave, and I've never seen a Schistura without a concave caudalfin. I'm unsure wether it was a Schistura...But I have naturally not seen every...

I've found Gerhards Mail. At this time (Nov. 2002) he wrote me, that we had to name the loaches as S. sp.aff. balteata. But I would say it is both all right. And we have the free choice at the moment. Leave it quietly at sp.aff. paucifasciata.

But you can allocate it to others :D I've contacted Gerhard 2002 about this loaches, I will search for his answer. The Mail is on another PC. I'm curious about the new pics :...

Thanks for all your replies! The wholesaler is located in Cologne. The days I will visit some Cologne pet shops. I'm sure that I find the Loaches in one of the shops and can see them before buying. I will report later.

of course you can use it, but are you sure that this is S. paucifasciata ? I thought always that S. paucifasciata has a black caudal stripe. The fishes of mine hadn't this. In a german magazine they were called S. sp. aff. balteata . I would say this is not the really paucifasciata but of course ver...

Thanks Graeme, Within the Balteata loach group yes, i think so too. It's a pity that i can't get the pink on the pic. But we know: S. balteata is "pink" on the ground with dark belts/stripes. This loach has a dark ground color and pink belts/stripes. The exact opposite. Fascinating! I like this grou...
