I have personally witnessed my sids eat snails almost immediately after being dropped into the aquarium by myself.

I've certainly considered getting more :) I'm not opposed to increasing the numbers, just need to catch one of the managers at the lfs on a really good day to get an exceptionally good price on the 6, or so, they have left :D :D

I've only got 13.

If you're referring to the very last picture in the thread, then it's not my picture, I borrowed it from the species index gallery for illustration :)

If you go into the profile for Y. sidthimunki and view the additional images you will see photos of more mature sids, including two of my own that were added: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/photos/y/Yasuhikotakia-sidthimunki-21.png/image_medium http://www.loaches.com/species-index/photos/y/Yas...

The fish is definitely Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki . As sids mature the chain pattern tends to develop all over the body. This fish was bought as a small specimen approximately two years ago. Whilst, I see a passing resemblance to B. kubotai I would expect it be confused with Y. nigrolineata first :)

I'm not sure what a water butt is called in the US, maybe a rain barrel? The water ...

If you're willing to split them, then I can take the B. striata and the Ember Tetras. I have a group of 14 B. striata I can add yours to and, the Ember Tetras can be added to the small shoal I have in another tank. Out of interest, what are the dimensions of the tank? Is it a branded one? What filte...

......although some info on the web does say min size of tank to be 100 litres for this loach. Where loaches, and many other fish, are concerned aquarium volume is not always the primary factor when considering stocking. Footprint is also important, and even if your tank contained 200 litres but wa...
