Re: Caring for 5 SUPER TINY Clowns - HELP!
You bet. Females have a claw shaped tail fin where as the males have straight outward fin tips. When the little one gets bigger, we'll be able to see if the tail fin curves inward at all a little better.

Re: Couple Kuhli loach questions
Kuhli loaches stay at the bottom of the tank and don't usually tread towards the surface unless there have been drastic atmospheric or water condition changes. They can't jump too high, either. They have been known to survive out of water for a while and they can walk along most dry surfaces. My tan...

Re: Clown Loach helpwith diagnosis and treatment of caudal f
This is a hole punched into the fin? If it's been a year with out healing or degrading condition, it may well be due to scaring. it still appears to have a reddish tint, which may be an infection around the hole that has kept it from filling in, or could be just coloration around the area from seali...

Re: Loch Ness Loach?
D'awwww. It's a black kuhli loach! He's harmless and you'll love him to death once you lean more about him. He's going to need friends, though! They live happily in groups of six or more and they're relatively cheap to buy. These guys hide in everything. They love to dig in substrate and especially l...

Re: Tibetan royal loach not eating!
Well, this isn't a big deal just yet, but I will tell you that fish and shrimp located in different areas taste different based on water conditions and food supply. Did you get your ghost shrimp from the same place they get their feeding shrimp? They might feed them what they have stocked, or they m...

Re: Aquascaping Issues.
They will chew through string and such. I use un-dyed threads for tethers. I have an Anubis Nana at the top of my drift wood, nestled in a large divot where the stump of the tree used to be, it stays safe for the most part. It serves as a lovely hiding place for my bicher. I actually bought a large ...

Bala Shark Care

And I decided to post some information regarding the fish to help every one understand the fish before buying one. Bala Sharks are not aggr...

Re: Red algae
I had something similar to this years ago. It was a reddish brown algae that took the place of the green algae and then ran rampant in my goldfish tank. It wouldn't come off for anything. It's slick like the green and short as well, but it took hours of scrubbing with a kitchen sponge and HOT HOT wa...

Re: Best substrate for diggers?
I was actually thinking the same thing for my tank. I was going to layer out and area near a small piece of drift wood at the corner of my 55 for my kuhlis. They have a lot of places to hide and fine gravel, but I think sand is the way to go. I was thinking of using Estes Marine Sand for mine and tr...

Re: How long do loaches live?
It depends on what kind of loach you're looking to find out about. http://www.loaches.com/species-index Our very own LoachesOnline has a species index that includes a lot of information, including longevity. That info might be is some of the related materials at the bottom of most species index pages.

Re: Caring for 5 SUPER TINY Clowns - HELP!
Oh, he is a tiny little fry! I just want to pick him up and snuggle him. I'm happy to hear of the improved health. If those fins on the tetras aren't getting any better, I'm going to make you buy a bottle of melafix! Ha ha. It promotes healthy fin growth with minimal scaring. I wouldn't use but just...
