Quarantine period

Quick question, what's a suitable quarantine period? Before introducing new clowns to my clown population I plan to treat for worms and whitespot in a seperate tank. How long should I leave it after treatment before deciding to move the fish (assuming no ill signs are present)

Re: Trying to Re-home Clowns

Let's say, first (appropriate) taker first. If I'm not ready and someone else is, let them take the fish. Seems the best option for all really.

Re: Trying to Re-home Clowns

Hi Boromark I'm in Peterborough with a dry 6ft tank at the mo but I have one little detail to fix before my clowns go in. Unfortunately I don't know when it'll conclude, it's a bit of a running saga. Not sure how long you can wait but in time I can take about 3 extra clowns (I have 5 now) without tr...

Re: clown loaches acting weird

Clowns need the company of themselves to live happily without fighting. This is quite natural behaviour whilst one assumes dominance over the other. When you have 5 or more they will fuss over each other and tend not to pick on individuals so much. When there's only two of them I think the attention...

~Unlucky but lucky

Just woke up to three dead zebra loaches and one possibly dying flying fox tba. Tank temperature was at 90 F! Obviously my 2 year old external in line heater/stat had given up the ghost. I'm gutted. I used to always run two undersized heaters before this one but wanted to get rid of the clutter. I'l...

Re: weather loach in a pond

I think perhaps you should consider how fish arrive in an otherwise empty pond. I suspect they arrive on the beaks of birds. I'm not convinced that the geographical seperation is a good control.

Re: Chromobotia macracanthus / Clown loach Questions

I keep my clowns in the local hardwater. Having lost a few to skinny (before discovering "Kusuri wormer plus" which worked where levamisole did not), my theory is that exposure to the worms is limited by the naturally acidic environment the clowns usually live in. I wonder what skinny issues people ...

Re: Tank background ideas

I have seen those ones but they seemed to work only for smaller tanks, I couldn't see how they worked on larger ones. I'd need alot of those tiles to cover my background. Took me a while to find a UK distributor for the Polish backgrounds but here it is http://www.aqua-maniac.com I thought their the...
