I would also advise you to do another water change, right now. Change as much water as possible (e.g. 2x 80%), if your tap water chemistry permits this. If possible use a shower head so the water gets aerated really well. If your problem has anything to do with low oxygen or bad water chemistry in t...

I think this is an abomination, too. If it's not photoshopped this is a loach to pity .. I don't think it can be the most excellent swimmer a loach usually is with THIS tail.

Hey Linarite, my guess is adding another 2-3 loaches will not be a problem .. yet . Clowns will eventually grow quite large (10"+) so the tank will become too small in some years, whether you have 3 or 6 loaches in it. If getting a larger tank for them in the future is not a problem by all means go ...

Hello again, in my humble opinion you should try to add more hiding places, e.g. 3 or 4 pieces of wood arranged so that there are many caves between them. Loaches also have a particular affection towards anything tube-like (pvc-pipes, hollow bamboo sticks), in fact all my loaches sleep together in o...

Hello linarite,

what kind of loaches do you have?
The feeding sounds ok, perhaps a bit too much of the wafers.
Do the loaches have many places to hide? A picture of your aquarium would help. :)

I adore the one in the middle-left. Looks almost like there was some botia kubotai in the mixture. I wish I could find one like it!

Re: XL loaches in XL loach motel

ckk125,

excellent pics! Thank the gods that loaches are generally peaceful .. I always wonder what would happen if one loach would go crazy in a pipe like that and extended its spines .. this could become really messy.

Thanks for the kind words! Lovey Pic and even lovelier Loaches , so how`d ya get them to pose ? Aquarium glue? Almost! The trick is to suspend the fish in Formalin first and then super-glue them into position quickly. Aside from that a day without food works wonders. :twist...

Clowns aplenty (pictures)

Heyas, after I did the bi-weekly waterchange today and cleaned the glass I thought it would be a good time to take a few pictures of my clowns. This is what's left of 88 shots. I hope you enjoy! http://www.cafe-kreativ.de/connor/fish/loaches_06.jpg Thanks for posing so nicely! ;-) http://www.cafe-kr...

Thanks for the nice little workshop, Martin! Flash reflection has been a problem I always try to shoot my pictures at an angle (think Billiard here!) .. not much problems with reflections this way. It's also helpful to do the shots when the room is dark and to wear dark clothing (at least no white T...

Re: Tank lighting

I understand that my loaches would benefit from a "blue moon" light system. Since I'm new to all of this could someone give me a little more info on these types of lights? I have googled and found several different systems but I'm not sure which one to invest in or try. Currently I have an Eclipse ...

Martin, your pics are stellar - as always! Would you perhaps tell us what kind of camera/lighting/general camera settings you are using to achieve quality macro shots like those? Generally I find it quite hard to get a proper focus on fast-moving fish like loaches. For the 10 or so pictures I posted...
