We seem to have been seeing a couple of cases like these over the past few weeks :? Long as the holes stay clean and no secondary infection gets in hopefully clean water and a varied diet should do the trick. Your stocking seems fairly light for that tank but just as a precaution keep an eye on Nitr...

Sorry to hear this loachmom :? Im not to sure what I would do in terms of assisting fish a part from removing them to a bare tank and completly clear the one they are in as it may be possible for the metal to reside in the substrate for a period of time. I did a dissertation on the effects of mercur...

Its surprising to see at first, its still a behaviour that still makes me smile everytime, there are 3 main ones in my group that will line up at the front and do this early evening each night..... I like to think it as the fish are happy enough to expose themselves and 'relax' as they feel confiden...

Have you ever had a go at frozen foods?? Try some blood/black worm, brineshrimp, daphina or whatever you have avaliable to you and try feeding after lights out  they should eventually take the hint, it can take a while for larger individuals to settle in and 'get' what is actually food. With s...

I dont think they will become more popular, loaches (bar clown, yoyo, zebra etc) in particular are not a group that the majority of fish keepers seek out, especially those 'unique' species they have never heard of before. Your best bet would be either (I think its Wildwoods) go onto Wildwoods/Wholes...

Why did no one here immediately tell you it was skinny disease? (also known as knifeback and clown loach disease). Isn't this meant to be a loach forum? I'm not an expert on loaches but I have lots of experience and I can tell you that out of owning 6 clown loaches all at different times, only 2 di...

Better than yours would suggest that there is a different water chem, which upon adding your new fish to your tank they will have the shock to deal with. This is why you should have your own test kit on had to measure these differences and decide what the best way is to progress. If there is a big d...

What 'seems' will be short lived. As far as you can see visually things are going ok, you dont know what goes on after lights out, weathers will pester and eat snails if they get a chance. Also a month is not that long to have all these fish together-when the goldfish grows it will not see the guppi...

Sorry for your loss. I used to buy skinny clowns thinking a decent feed would sort them out before I came here and learnt that there were a number of contributing factors. It is possible to treat and fish to make a recovery in a number of cases, although some are just to weak. With regards to it not...

Long as you keep those tummies well filled, hopefully the weak one will make it through. I have had clown loach very thin when I bought them that are still gaining weight, it takes a lot of time to see it, but when you do its such a relief :D Try some cyclops, chopped earthworms, white andblackworms...

Hi Ryoko, Welcome to LOL :) Just a few questions about your fish; How long have you had the fish in the setup? You say they are inactive-do they look healthy and in good weight? Have you tried feeding after lights are out? There could be several things going on; The fish are still settling in Not en...
