Re: Kuhli loach listless?
Sadly, they do damage easily. They have a tendency to crush themselves under things and injure their spines and ribs. spinal damage is usually noted when the fish no longer has control of it's movements and has what almost looks like a seizure across the tank. This can go on for days, but very often...

First World Black Shark Problems
My black shark and my golden algae eater are always arguing. This is mostly the algae eater's aggressive behavior causing the scraps. Weirdly, he's not after slime coat, he's using his head as a battering ram to wail on him. The Black shark is a little big to be moved into any of my other tanks and ...

Re: Kuhli Loach help please!!
Well, each fish is an individual, so what they like could be a little different. Apple is a little tougher than other fruits, but as long as it's sliced, they can get at it quite easy. Most fish enjoy any kind of fruit or veggie you can think of. I feed broccoli to my bettas and platys and apples sl...

I lost a loach today.
On sunday, I purchased two very tiny clown loaches in the hopes of expanding my little loachy family. Today, however, one of the babies was showing some strange signs that I've never really seen. Seemingly blind. I knew the wasn't when I bought it. He saw well enough to go to his little cave and sta...

Re: Kuhli Loach help please!!
My kuhlis tend to do the "Loachy dance" more towards late spring into early summer. They can tell when there are vast changes in atmospheric conditions and tend to be very active during those times. Water changes and redecorating tends to get them in a stir, too. With the cory comment, my corys spen...

Re: golden dojo help very sick
I would treat any fish showing symptoms and demonstrating strange or odd behavior. I've not had anything like this, but I've never owned dojo loaches. I wanted to, but different story for a different time. I find this very strange, since another user posted the very same thing very recently. I think...

Currently, all fish are unaffected, but the tank is. I have spare 10gals and I think I'll be switching over to one later today. I'll keep the fish in regular water for a day or two, and if I see anymore growth, I can treat again. the green is a pain to remove. I've done this treatment before. It tak...

Re: Any tips for loachy first aid?
HA! Be sure to match the water temps, obviously, or you'll cause more problems. Funny funny. I used to own elephant fish and they were serious jumpers. I learned early on what to do with a fish out of water. If the fish has been out of the water for an extended period of time, room or air temperatur...

Re: clown turned black
I also have one clown that is very very dark identical to the photos already posted here. He/she is in a group of six, all the others are the regular colour and they spar with each other and "grey out" . My dark guy is certainly NOT the alpha, he is smaller and tends to be a bit of a loner. I have ...

Re: Kuhli Loach help please!!
Well, I've had my black kuhlis for a little while and they don't get too big. 2-2 1/2'' is really all the bigger I have. Granted, mine are only a year and a half old. I only have black kuhlis, but the newer and older fish all stay together for the most part. They stay cuddled up under their own drif...

Re: Why are Ambastaia sidthimunki so expensive : (
Don't feel too bad... I had to call up a not so local pet store to see if they could get 4 y. eos for me so I could have a complete set of five. They said they'd call back, but the Modestas they have are nearly $12 a pop with nearly $60 in shipping and handling and these are fish they have all the t...

Re: Is my clown loach dying???
You can treat the other fish as well. Probably for the better if it's a bacterial infection. They can be prone to spreading. It just costs more to treat more water. When treating, please reduce the light in the tank as this could cause degradation of the medicines. Best of luck. Do you have a way to...

Re: Holes in my Dojo Loach
I'm pretty sure the actual stomach lays just behind the head in a dojo loach, right? I may be wrong here. This could have something to do with the actual stomach if not from biting from other fish. Quarantine this guy as soon as possible as stated above and keep us posted.

Re: Fungus I'm not familiar with...
Well, things didn't get much better. The next day, my bala shark with the three point caudal fin died and was covered. The glass could hardly be seen through. But, it helped me spot it a little better. It is wavy! It anchors in one spot and the rest just sort of bounces around in the current. I did ...

Re: Aquascaping Issues. UPDATE! YAY!
You'd be ashamed if I told you where I got it! It was a great, hulking piece, but I had to cut it down to meet the tiny width of the tank. I lost a lot of the roots because of the thinning.
