Re: Loach from my locality.
Hi borneo 24. I have a fish which looks similar to this. It was sold to me as a Butterfly Plec but I know it as a HIllstream Loach. It is nearly 9 years old now and resides in my 4ft sand-bottomed catfish tank with smaller catfish species and African Dwarf Frogs. I really should attempt to identify ...

Re: Loach from my locality.
I used the "OOPS, there's something in the net I just stirred around" method  Twas in a pond and I was surveying for newts. There was a population of non-native Alpine Newts escaped from a local school surviving, nay thriving, there. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh204/redshark1/Triturusal...

Re: Botia Loaches and Cichlids
As you can see I keep a Jack Dempsey with my Clown Loaches. He has a powerful bite, but gets on great with the Clown Loaches and is very gentle with them. He will occasionally push them out of his space like a bulldozer, but they don't mind this at all. I sometimes feel sorry for him as the Clown Lo...

Loach from my locality.
Hi, having enjoyed the loaches from Borneo and Western Ghats I thought I'd post my only pic of my only local loach species in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, the Stone Loach Nemachaelis barbatus. Enjoy (hopefully!). http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh204/redshark1/StoneLoachNemachaelisbarbatusSunL...

What's it's name? Lingling?
And don't forget to blanch the bamboo before weighting it down in the tank!

Hi, my friendly advice to you would be to brush up on your knowledge about establishing a mature filter and then maintaining good water quality. That is the key to being a successful fishkeeper.

Re: Hello.
Hi yendor, welcome to our (and now your) forum. This is the place for Loach keepers and I am so glad to have found it. I have found my Clown Loaches entertaining, beautiful sociable and very sturdy. Surely the greatest aquarium fish. My six are 17 years old and are 8" (females) and 6" (males) in my ...

Re: what snails to feed clown loaches
Mine seemed to enjoy Ramshorn snails.
They must be cultivated snails not wild ones, to avoid parasites.

Fabulous pictures and truly beautiful fish - there is a striking effect but also exquisite detail to the patterns and colour combinations.
A real treat to see. Many thanks.

Re: friendly loaches???
Yes, but I would say that to keep these you need a group and adding a group could seriously compromise your water conditions so make sure you have a big enough tank and ample filtration or it could end up being a bad idea. They need feeding and should not be regarded as mere scavengers. They may, if...

Re: Setting up my first Clown Loach tank.
Cool that you found us and are prepared to ask. It's worth having something to aim for, even if you cannot achieve it yet. I waited a long time for my Clown Loach aquarium since I first wanted it 20 years before. I kept different fish in smaller tanks before then. I would aim for 6 -10 Clown Loach i...
