Agree with starting with Craig's list, but be forewarned, fishkeeping is a slippery slope into multiple-tank madness (from one fish in one tank to 7 tanks ranging from 10 gallons to 120 gallons in 5 months flat....)

We've gone low-tech and just wrapped them in a mesh fabric. Doesn't look as neat as the screen inside, but it works.

Shrimp and Loaches

We had some algae going to town in our 120, and Cloudhands wanted to put some Amanos in to help deal with it. I was afraid that the shrimp would quickly become expensive live food, but when the local fish store had them for $1.99 each, I let Cloudhands put one (of our established, well-quarantined) o...

Of any species of hillstream I've kept these absolutely MUST have lots of current. http://www.loaches.com/species-index/photos/h/IMG_6938.JPG Martin. We have 4 powerheads rated for a total of 2500 gph or aut a 50 gallon tank (will be less once cobbles, etc, considered) That should be enough, right?...

Any more info on care than is in the book/on Loaches.com? How big a tank do they like? Will they play well with Sewallia, gastromyzons, etc?

Am very tempted for the 48" hillstream tank we are setting up...

Dwarf Pea Puffers

Does anyone have them? They look so cute, but seems they are too aggressive to go in with pretty much anything else. I am thinking (well, the voices are telling me to  ) of getting a little 6-gallon eclipse to keep at my office with them. Any thoughts? (other than that I am truly crazy to be t...

I haven't noticed them really bullying, they don't fin-nip, they just sort of chase. I think like a dog that chases cars but wouldn't know what to do if it caught one.... Or like a little kids trying to tag along with the big lids... Yes, it is funny to see the sids shoaling with the otos! Out of n...

Our Botia used to feed upside down on the surface when they were skinny little things. Now that they have fattened up it seems to no longer suit them :)
