so - a lot more is possible than I thought. sidheymunckey are already intended for another tank.

I was concerned the depth - 45 cm or 18 inches would be too little. Thanks, all

What to do with a tank?

A few weeks ago disaster struck one of my tanks. I had cichlids in it, Theraps lentiginosum, a species from rapids in Mexico, but suddenly they all died. I think, one of them died, poisoning the water, which killed the others. Still, I want other fish in it. Preferably loaches, BUT will the tank be ...

Re: I bought clown loach Number 7

don't worry about changes regarding central American fishes, such as platies.

Sometimes it does not rain in weeks, resulting in rather hard and warm water (DH 50, 30 C) and then it poors. Water temp dropping to 24 C, hardness 8 or less.

The fish can have it

Re: Botia Almorhae

most likely, the given value * Size of tank (dimensions and volume). 4ft X @ft X 18ins is 4ft X 2ft X 18ins (I have @ and 2 on the same key in m keyboard) More to the point, I would not feed lambs heart - it is not a food source fish would encounter in nature. This can be hard to digest, and aggress...

Re: Need help setting up a 225 gallon loach tank

Many mollies like salt in the water, which clowns do not enjoy. I would, therefore consider mollies as not suitable dithers. Clowns come from Sumatra, and Sumatra has a lot of much more suitable dithers - many Rasboras, and others. So why go around the globe to find a less suitable fish? If you want...

Re: buying first home forces sidthimunki rehome

If you would live closer, I would be hasppy to have them, as I plan to get some sidthimunki soon. But the 500 km drive, not to mention the north sea is a bit of a problem.

Good luck selling them

Re: Oldest Clown Loach over 20 years of age?

It's nice to know they live a long live, lol, 40+ years is way too long considering how hard it is to keep up with fish tanks long term, taking into account life is not easy. Although I've done my bit. But it just changes perspectives about the amount of care one should anticipate, looking after fi...

Re: Best food for clown loaches

My clown tank was heavily invested with snails when I got them, and in a day or 2 these were gone I have managed to feed them snails a few times since, but I never saw one of the snails crawling. Obviously, they must like these snails very much. But feeding snails implies breeding snails, and while ...

Re: Ceramic Bio Beads Fail?

It's a matter of opinion indeed Still, I think not nuch is wrong with using sponges, if one uses enough. I have a 400 * 100 * 70 cm tank with 2 filters, each 30 cm wide, with 30 cm worth of sponges. Obviously they measure 70 cm hight. This comes down to 126 liters of active filter volume, in a 2800 ...

Re: Ceramic Bio Beads Fail?

Personally, I have most of my tanks filtered with sponges, and they are working nicely. Obviously, they start as just mechanical filters but then, after a while, the dirt collected in them starts te be degraded. Actually quite logical, after all, the dirt is nothing else then a buffet for the bacter...

Re: Histies with Sids?

I am - quietly - completing a slghtly smaller tank, 260 L, with sidhymuncki and Rasbora axelrodi. And perhaps 1 algae eater. The benefit of having way different species is that they live in different parts of the tanks, this allows you to have really big groupes - I'm thinking of 15 sids - and the t...

Re: Fire bellied salamander as tankmate

I would not do so Fire bellied salamanders are fire bellied because they have poison in their skin. Therefore a predator will be wanred not to eat them - or die from this poison, it is rather toxic. Your loaches might nibble the salamanders skin, and either eat something they better didn't or releas...

Please use the Latin names.

I have not a clue what a SAE or RTBS is (I think one of them might be the former Labeo bicolor, but which one I don't know)

This forum is used by people all over the world, and some local name will not be known elsewhere.
