Re: When a bigger tank is not possible

Thank you EmilyMarie85. I will be lowering the temp as soon as Baby Girl gets over the swim bladder issue. Or should I do it now and see what she does? But I will up the temp if I see any sign of ich and will do water changes as well. As soon as I get a chance I will put the pics that are on my cell...

Re: When a bigger tank is not possible

loachlover77: As you may know, clown loaches spurt growth to 4"-5" and THEN they grow very slowly. You came to this forum requesting help if I remember correctly? You had some sick clown loaches with ich and fungus (your version of fine in a 55g?). After you treated for those the loach started hang...

Re: Clown loach hanging at top of tank........

I will take a look at them when I go to the pet store. I really love the clown loaches. I saw a big one at Farmland one time and I was hooked on them. But I will be saving for a bigger tank so that my clowns will stay happy and so I can get more clowns. How many clowns are suggested to have?

Re: When a bigger tank is not possible

EmilyMarie85: As you may know, clown loaches grow very slowly and can be kept in a 55 gallon tank for about years or a little less. Everyone: I feel that you are indicating that clown loaches grow quickly in a 55 gallon tank. These clowns that I have, have been in the tank since 2008. I will be savi...

I love the clown loach the best. Zebra loaches don't catch my interest high enough to keep them for their whole life.

Re: Clown loach hanging at top of tank........

Yeah I will be getting a new test kit when I can get the money for one. They are expensive here, like $30 or something like that. Baby Girl, my biggest clown loach, has been doing better whenever I have fed her some peas, she would swim around normal. I was thinking about oxygen depletion but my oth...

Re: Clown loach hanging at top of tank........

An update on my biggest clown loach:

I researched online about swim bladder and sure enough she had that. I gave her a couple peas last night and this morning she was back to her normal self. I am wondering now how often I can feed peas to her to avoid the swim bladder disease?

Yep that is exactly what he is, comfortable hiding right now. He will come out more as he feels more comfortable to do so. Just make sure that he is eating and such.

Clown loach hanging at top of tank........

Hi there! I am new to the forum. I have a 55 gallon fishtank that houses 3 clown loaches and two plecos. My biggest clown loach has been sick for a week or so. I have treated her with ich medicine for 6 days with a water change in between. She recovered from that. I also treated her with fungus medi...

Re: help - Rapid breathing and odd behaviour

Hi, I've got a problem with one of my clown loaches and I have no idea what is wrong. For the last week almost i've noticed that one of the loaches has been constantly breathing rapidly with its mouth open. He/She is also behaving strangly. All my loaches are usually hide inside a big hollow rock d...

Re: help - Rapid breathing and odd behaviour

The fish have been in the tank 3 days now and they are also the first fish to live in this tank. The ammonia is neutral, the PH is neutral, and the water temp is go...

Re: North Carolina fish stores

So I live in a med-small town about an hour from Raleigh, NC and it is a DEAD zone when it comes to fish stores. I used to drive to Raleigh to go to Tropical Fish World, but they closed down a while back. There is a place called The Fish Room also in Raleigh, which is small, seems okay but I have n...

Re: Clown always buried in sand

Right now your clown loach is hiding probably because he/she is not used to the environment that he/she is in at the moment. I would just give him/her time to adjust to the environment. Keep everything the same, do water changes on the same day each week, etc. Your clown loach that is hiding will co...

Re: Loach availability in Australia

Clown loaches get about 20" in the wild. In captivity they get about maybe 12" to 16". Clown loaches will not stay small in a tank that is less than 125 to 250 gallons, not sure if there is a 250 gallon tank out there or not. I have three clown loaches in a 55 gallon tank and I will need to get a bi...
