Re: Holy Nirtates

"What I am trying to say is that TDS will increase in time in a polluted fish tank and this can be used to monitor the water quality or use as a reference for water changes." This may be true in your tank. Not mine. My TDS lowers over time as the buffering capacity is depleted and I think this is mo...

"Upon completing the testing, there proved to be no relation between the concentration of nitrate and the conductivity."

Nice link Ardilla. Thanks for posting.

Re: Holy Nirtates

Can you please explain your thinking here. My TDS meter measures conductivity. How are using this to quantify nitrates? I've found no correlation between TDS & Nitrate levels in my tanks. Nitrates are NO3− ions. Conductivity is the water's ability to carry electrical current in relation to the amou...

Re: Loaches and salt tolerance

What is your water source? I would suspect changes there, possibly caused by heavy rains. What is your typical ph? Test the ph, kh, gh, and TDS of your change water if you have the means to determine if there has been a sudden change. There could also be some sort of chemical contamination in your w...

Re: Himalayan River Tank Setup

Different brand powerheads will vary. Wattage obviously makes a difference. I used aquaclear powerheads and had similar results. The only real fix that I can think of would be to invest in a chiller. Sponges can be found on most mail order sites if your shop doesn't carry them. I also found some nic...
