Eh, I don't like seeing algae although my first RTS used to graze on it consistently--probably why he grew so fast and was solid and healthy. I think besides the sun, the algae grew because my water changes were not as consistent as they'd used to be. I remember a long time ago reading threads about...

I do have one of the scrapers like you have, Dave, and yes it does work, but it seems where the sun hits the tank those spots of algae form on the back of the glass primarily and the sides too. Using the scraper can be awkward for the back. I'd love a natural alternative to cleaning algae like a ple...

Sorry about your SAE but I'm real happy your RTS is doing well. He's kinda like the lone wolf.

Thank you, Dave. I wasn't sure what else I could do. Separating the clowns was something I really didn't want to do so changing it up has been working, thankfully. And the good news also is stubby's pec regrowth is more noticeable each day. I'm changing water twice per week and salting every other w...

After that yoyo episode I got that decoration outta there. Wow, you certainly have had your share of near death experiences. LOL Well thank God all were happy endings. You were brave cutting wood to save your fish. I'm not sure what I would do in that instance because it's true that I really do fear...

Well thank you everybody. Not sure what I'm going to do now. Cleaning the tank with the abrasive sponge has been working out ok and algae primarily forms only in a few places here and there. I think I'll have a S.A. in an lfs use it for me and see what I think of it since they seem to be in lots of ...

I personally love the look of RTS's. My very first one was gorgeous, and he schooled with the clowns, but he became aggressive as he got older but I didn't want to give him up so I set him up in a 20 gallon tank. But because he was a nut job he injured his eye in the big tank going on a spastic fit ...

Thank you so much, Glenna.

I do see an improvement. Silver dollars are hiding less and clowns are still investigating. I hope it lasts. Thanks for the encouragement and the compliments. :-)

I hope to see Stubby's fins growing back soon.

Missing Pecs Silver Dollar + Pics

No pics of the missing pecs; no way that fish was staying still enough. I deduced that the problem was crowding so as I posted on Loach Forum, I rearranged my (silk) plants, moved the clown cave--pretty much changed it up so that more open space was created. Below is a link to pics. https://sites.go...

How cute he looks peeking out of the cave-- "coast is clear!" My favorite yoyo story happened when I had to remove one of my caves because the clowns used to burrow under them and I used to go crazy trying to find them. It took me a long while to figure out where the hell the clown(s) were hiding. A...

Things are going marvelously so far. I'm so happy with my work. I will figure out how to post some pics; thought I could do it from here? I'll have to look it up.

Hope this works.

Strength--and comfort--in numbers. Glad you're enjoying your fish and that's some great art you posted too. Such talent!
