MaryG- I think that no one has responded since few people have much experience with LEDs yet. I don't have experience with them yet either, but have been watching as the technology develops. The one that you are looking at looks like it could work quite well so you might just have to try it. If you ...

Sorry for the delay (I was out of town and did a 24 hour bicycle race) in responding. hx- I think that yours looks very nice and it is correct that I do not have any substrate in the tube. At the beginning I had some kind of nasty algae growing in among the roots, but since I started dosing with iro...

Thanks Scott and hx. hx- I like your window box. With it made out of glass and not set all the way into the window should make it work well. Good choices. Your plants look like they are growing very well. My leaves were kind of yellow at first and I read that this might be caused by a lack of iron. ...

I have striata, histrionica, rostrata, kubotai, and clowns, and the striata are by far the most reclusive. I only see them a little bit and then it is just when they move in and out of the shadows. I have 12, but I only rarely see 4 or 5 of them. I don't know if this is typical and I would be intere...

Thanks Marcos. Yes, she is big and has been that way for the last 8 months or so. I have another one that is just as gravid. I have a couple of trays of medium sized stones in the back of the tank in the hope that if any eggs are ever layed, that some might survive by falling down between the stones.

Here's what the 300 gallon tank looks like now with just the sky lights for light. In this picture the tank looks a little dark, but it is actually brighter than my other tanks with artificial light. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s14/k8472w/300Gallon.jpg There have been some changes. First, the...

I think that the advice that Diana gave is very good. That is, without the Koralia set up, observe carefully where any dead spots are (where debris builds up) and then set up the Koralia to eliminate these. Unless your sand is really fine grained, it is possible to place the Koralia at a height and ...

I would like to convince you not to take the first step towards getting an aquarium unless you are really, really sure that you are willing to do the work required to learn about all of the things that you need to know in order to be successful and that you are willing to do the regular maintenance ...
