Re: Loach ID Pls
Hi Looking at the article: Pseudogastromyzon myersi (?), Sewellia lineolata and Gastromyzon ocellatus. That's the one you were asking for, right? By the way: I didn't read all, but there is no "suction cup" but "structures similar to those of geckos" (J. Freyhof). It's now 10 years he announced this...

Re: loach talk!
Hi all Just realised you are talking about P. brevis. They are easy to breed and really very "busy" at it once started. There must be some pics of youngsters on seriouslyfish.com I posted years ago. I keep still half a dozen of the youngsters in my 500 lt tank, as I hadn't the intention to go on wit...

Re: Levamisole
Hi Basil Many loaches are very sensitive, some extremly. I have lost some the last 50 years. If they are scaleless you should be at standby during application. Levamisole is strong stuff, not sold round here. I made only use once and lost more specimen than by worms ever. On import there is no appli...

Re: DISSOLVED OXYGEN TEST KITS
No idea Fran.
In Europe it's Tetra, sera and JBL.
Red sea, Tropic Marin perhaps. I don't know if they have a seperate test out of the complete sets.
Cheers Charles

Re: DISSOLVED OXYGEN TEST KITS
Hi Sorry: Brian Greene is a professional. I can't see a waste of anything. The moving is in order to dissolve the chemical indikator. Of course: electronic measering is better but expensive. For our hobby a test kit by JBL or else will do. Recomended is the reading of the user manual. In particular ...

Re: "Borneo sucker" loaches ID
Hi That is good to hear. Catching: easiest way is netting them by raising the bolders. It is less stressing but to chase them with a net through the tank - for fish and fisherman. Worst way is the credit card trick. Could dammage the tiny structures at the periphery of the paired fins - the gecko-li...

Re: Gravid Sid, any new info on breeding them?
Hi Sids have been "bred" accidentally. "Zufallszucht" in German, means breeding by chance. "Breeding" would mean to know all parameters to reproduce them. That's not the case and deliberately breeding in tanks doesn't happen. All reports have in common: large tank, heavily planted, good food and a t...

Re: Normal Sewellia behavior?
First of all Hi Olivia I can be very old fashioned you see. What is the issue of your "work in biology"? Any questions to answer? To reasure you: I'm used to scientific language. So go ahead. And regarding hillies: you won't find anybody to know more about. Or is all a bla bla bla as we say in Germa...

Re: "Borneo sucker" loaches ID
Hi Good approach. By the way: temperature 20-22° helps. If you go higher they may be stressed because that accelerates matabolic processes untill the system breaks down over 24°. They can't keep pace in a tank where the food-offer is not constant high all day. And another point: the bacterial overfl...

Re: "Borneo sucker" loaches ID
Hi Two G. zebrinus (you might lose the second: starvation and damaged muscosa, that's bad) and G. scitulus (male?) Better pics (head-shape) would help. Try standard dried food, just a few red worms (frozen) to make them start. Algae are for "occupation", Spirulina is for nothing (should be Chlorella...

Re: Oddball pattern Clown Loaches
Hi A word about the situation today: good breeders (at least one in Europe) achieve better results regarding affinity to ichtio and emaciation as well as health-problems in general. Better means that these specimen have no problems at all if properly held and fed. Not so the wild caught. Odd pattern...

Hi
Did you have a look at "Conspectus Cobitidum"? The only described species from Thailand is T. baenzigeri, few (4) pics only, so the interest in your pics is given.
Cheers Charles
