You won't regret the effort. When I moved my loaches into a bigger tank the difference in their behaviour was fantastic. They were fine and healthy before but they're much more bold now.

The window film is an excellent idea. I must look into that. I've always preferred a plain black backing.

You say you don't use powerful pumps but it sure looks like the fish have plenty to swim against! Great looking tank.

Wow, both lovely but that first one is a stunner. My first thought was that it might be juvenile but there's no reason unnamed species shouldn't be turning up now again so who knows! Keep us updated.

Don't take my word for it but I'd have thought that, as long as there are enough vertical supports under the flat surface, it should be ok. (As long as your floor doesn't give way beneath the whole lot!)

Oh and I also think that japonica/Ammano shrimp are fine with a lot of loaches but probably not large clowns. I've kept these with five different species of Botia for years and never lost one to predation. Cherry shrimp aren't safe, though.

If you wouldn't keep clowns with discus because they're too boisterous, then certainly don't get yoyos as they're even more so! All the botiine loaches are at least inquisitive so I don't know how well they'd go with discus. Any of the Pangio spp. would be a better choice, although I don't know if a...

Wow, you have some lovely tanks. Have you had any trouble with the praecox rainbows? I've tried them twice (separated by a few years and in different tanks) and they've all mysteriously died on me fairly quickly. Never happened with any other fish species.

Those are stunning fish. I'm planning to get some eventually! Saw them up at Peterborough a week ago and fell in love with them instantly.
