Betta Cruelty
It's gotten hard to go to the petsmart over here, because of that very reason. The horrid conditions of the poor bettas are so brutal. I used to have to avoid the area where they have cats for adoption, because I would pity adopt them all if I could, now, I think i've got the same thing with the fis...

Bella
Hi there, First of all, your new gal is LOVELY :). As for Bella, I am so under-qualified to even answer that question...I don't think it was normal eggishness, she really looked BAD, bloated, is the first thing that came to my mind. Don't second guess it, if you just go by instinct, then I think you...

Other Fish Forums
Wow I went looking online for other fish forums...I am so disappointed lol...not one is even close to Loaches, in knowledge, in friendliness, in maturity... All I saw were responses to posts such as "Hey I TOLD you that 4 threads ago.." or "What, exactly, makes you think you could ever breed Betta?...

18" tall 55G - Male Betta - Too Deep 4 Betta? Exp Adv N
I would like to get some more female bettas eventually and place them in our 55 gallon tank. It's 18" high. someone told me that they'd not be able to handle the depth, that it would kill them. I would of course have plenty of ledgy, hanging plant, leafy area at the surface for them to rest in. I di...

girl power
I think that in general, the males are quite a bit larger than the females...if only because they're being bred for bigger, stronger, finnier males all the time..so the bodies of course are bigger too... Naturally they are bigger, it's scary to watch (I youtube it) them spawn....the male is SO much ...

Oopsie
Kelly,
Sorry I just realized what you said about her age; I totally didn't see that earlier! I guess I'm pretty wrong about how old they are when they're finally in a retail setting...heh now I know

Purple Danios
Hey there,
I saw a tank full of purple danios the other day; they really do have that violet hue on their bodies. I didn't see much of anything else on them..that probably is no help at all but I do know that they are STRIKINGLY shimmery purple

the great aquarium in the sky...
Kelly, The females are so awesome, such personalities!! She does look pretty bad...can't tell if her fins are furled up, but even so she does not look healthy. At least she got to have some NOM NOM blood worms and good love while you had her! And one thing that I finally realized...by the time we se...

One free way to end your betta's pain...
If you trust Petco, that is. Take her back to them. They will accept her, for an exchange, (though I'd recommend against that!). however, once there I have no idea what they will do to "euthanize" her...but it will be quicker and less personally agonizing than keeping her, and possibly just watching...

Kinder gentler euthanasia
Hi, I recently started the hobby (fish of course :). We had a huge disaster rip through our tanks, and had many fish die. My two girls, betta's, were not dead but they were on their way out, suffering. I read the sticky on this site. It is VERY informative. I went to rite aid and bought the clove oi...

Pale Golden Weather Loach - Advice???
I may be over-protective, but I've noticed that our Golden loach has become pale, her head area is still the strong yellow color, but her body is MOSTLY paler, a few spots of the gold still showing... She' is acting just as fine as always, she's a tough ol' bird, but I was wondering if this is somet...

Seems to be ok still...
They (the danios) are now acting as a somewhat cohesive unit...there is still chasing but never all on one and it's constantly changing who is chasing whom...heh...so I'm much more comfortable with them. I hope this continues! What a strange thing..that the number of fish would have such an impact o...
