What color is the liquid, green? If it is, then it's also probably got malachite green in it. That combo of formaldehyde, mehtanol and malachite green woul make it the equivalent of the US medication called "Ich-X". mad by Hikari. The little clown continues to hang on, but he's definitely weakening....

Active Ingredients in Interpet no7 - Anti slime and velvet

Can someone tell me what the active ingredients in Interpet no7 - Anti slime and velvet are? We can't get it here in the US and I'm looking for something similar to kick an extremely virulent case of Ich in one very sick baby Clown. My usual treatment has not worked and someone in the UK recommended...

The only time I've ever seen either of these loaches agressive toward another species is if the other fish initiated the agression. I've kept Clowns, Sids and other Botia together with no problems. Clowns are very good natured fish. Like most loaches, Sids are very active and curious. You'll see the...

I've used 1 tablespoon of kosher salt per each 10 gallons of water long term in my mixed loach tank. There are both Kuhlis and Corys in residence in this tank and none of them have shown any signs of having problems tolerating that level of salt. It's entirely possible that the natural chemistry of ...

It's neat to actually see our words in print. Thanks for the shot of the Kuhli section Martin! :D Can't wait to see Mr. Moose (may he RIP). It will truly seem real once I'm holding it in my hands and can feel the pages and smell the ink. I love the smell of new books and it's gotta be even better wh...

Very often you can get a good quality used tank on e-bay for an excellent price. As I've upgraded over the years I've always sold my tanks on e-bay, usually at a fracton of the price of new tanks.

In addition to what Tinman said, Loaches (especially the Botia genus which Striatas are a member) are very curious fish. They may find your Discus very interesting and inadvertently harass them. They don't do this out of agression, simply curiosity.

My lfs sells them for $9.99 which isn't really bad, but when on a budget and trying to get a marine tank up and running, it can be prohibitive. $9.99 is a good price for Kubs. They are neat fish! IMHO you can keep 3 in a 36" tank. They grow very, very slowly. I know what you mean about the marine t...

These have been used in the reef hobby for awhile. I've often thought my loaches would appreciate a Vortech, but for that price a MaxiJet will just have to do. :P

I have 3 Clown Plecos in my tank. The majority of their diet is driftwood. They eat a little algae off the glass, but I wouldn't classify them as algae eaters per se. They do like Hikari algae wafers though. Nice little critters and they never get bigger than 3" TL. Definitely worth having for the c...

Botia dario are very lively fish, but not at all agressive and they rarely grow to more than 15cm. They are some of the most entertaining Botias in my opinion. I highly recommend them.

I'm not sure we can be certain whether it was the ich, medication or the combination of both that did in your Rainbows and Cory. Switching to Para Guard might make things better (I mean you did lose fish during the maracide treatment after all). I think Para Guard (made by Seachem) is superior and s...
