Stuck Subocular Spine
My juvenile clowns have been sparring a bit more than usual lately. They're probably trying to figure out a pecking order, as every week it seems like a different one of them has outgrown the others. I'm not too worried about it, though I may try to add some more hiding spots soon. They have dozens ...

Re: What in the world are those?!?
The fish were never affected by the worms, fortunately. Turns out that they are completely harmless, just one of those biological indicators that lets you know that you need to fix something in the tank.
I cut back on the amount of food, and the worms went back into hiding a week or two later.

Re: Three loaches to identify
Your peppered loach looks like a young one, about the same size my son's were when we got them. Don't let the small size fool you, I'm quite confident that your fish is a Lepidocephalichthys guntea. By way of comparison, here is a pic of one of my son's fish: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg58...

The top one looks like a Lepidocephalichthys guntea, aka peppered loach.

My son has two of these little guys in his tank, and they look just like yours.
Someone else will have to ID the khulis.

Re: YoYo Loach Rescue!!
I'm no expert, but to my eyes he looks like a relatively healthy juvenile yoyo with a bloated belly, as if he's just enjoyed a large meal. He isn't showing the "knifeback" appearance commonly associated with skinny disease. However, it's hard to judge by photos alone. He does resemble my own juvenil...

We can see the links, but if you use the "Img" button at the top of the reply box, instead of the "URL" button, we'll be able to see the pics right on this page. For example: This URL: "http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg588/DainBramage1991/5-13-2012033_cropped.jpg" shows up like this when I use ...

Re: YoYo Loach Rescue!!
I have yoyos and a number of other loach species in one tank. Here's how I see their interaction: Clown loaches: Play with other clowns, rarely even noticing any of the other fish. Yoyo loaches: Keep to themselves for the most part, but will occasionally interact with the other loaches and catfish. ...

Re: New clown loach owner, got some questions! :)
Question 1: Too much of a bio-load? Maybe, it depends on how much effort you feel like putting in to maintaining water quality. If you are willing to do frequent water changes and keep a close eye on water chemistry, 2 more shouldn't be a problem. Ultimately, how many fish can be kept in a tank has...

Re: Hello LOL. I've been lurking with my loaches :)
Very nice woodwork, and a healthy looking featherfin. Mine are all way too fat. If yours are already in the 7-8" range, it's unlikely that they will grow any longer. But they may get broader. Like I said before, they have prodigious appetites and can balloon up pretty easily. The fish-inch rule does...

Re: Do I have enough room for these Cory Cats?
I'm not sure if you have room for a few cories or not, as you didn't state how many and what kind of fish are in the tank other than the clowns. You need to account for the entire fish load in a tank, not just at the strata occupied by the fish you are interested in. If your tank is lightly stocked,...

Re: Hello LOL. I've been lurking with my loaches :)
Featherfins are awesome, I have four of them in with my loaches. They have enormous appetites (keep an eye out to make sure that all of the other fish are getting enough to eat), but I've never seen them bother the loaches at all. In fact, they hardly even know that the loaches exist, except when on...

Re: Clown Loaches doing something interesting - thoughts?
It's actually fairly rare that I catch my clowns shadowing, usually it's my other loaches that do it. I have one small histrionica in particular that loves to race around shodowing the other fish seemingly at random. It's quite a sight to see a 3" loach chasing an 8" featherfin catfish around the ta...

Re: Where to get levamisole?
Well that explains why I was unable to get some when I went looking for it last year. Thanks for the info, Chefkeith. Fortunately for my loaches I was able to acquire a bottle of Jungle Anti-Parasite Medicated Fish Food, which had been discontinued some time before then. The active ingredients are: ...

Re: Clown Loaches doing something interesting - thoughts?
If it's spawning behavior, then my loaches are very confused. I've seen them shadow rainbows, featherfins, and even cories. About the only fish I have that doesn't get shadowed from time to time is my sailfin pleco.

Re: Clown Loaches doing something interesting - thoughts?
Shadowing is normal behavior for loaches. All of my loaches, not just the clowns, do this from time to time. I think it may have something to do with establishing the pecking order.
