Re: Adding young/small yoyos to tank with one that is 3 inch
shouldnt be a problem. the small ones should school and the big one will join eventually. every time i add new yoyos the new ones will hang by themselves until they go to the others

Re: Advice
thats why i suggested minerilized top soil. Its not that different to flourite or those other over priced soils. Just cap it and you should be fine really. Dustinsfishtanks has clown loaches in his 220 gallon with rainbows, good flow, dirt and plants. His clowns are vibrant as marines.

Re: Advice
all my local pet shops and lfs dont use salt. lucky me and all th loaches are always nice and fat n 4ft sell tanks. 2nd note to nancy d, soil is used to give more nutrients o plants and increase their root growth. just too much shouldnt be used.

RIP white boy. he was floating at the top upside down, would swim off but eventually died and was on the intake. he had this hole in his gut and that was all.starsplitter7 wrote:So glad Baby Girl made it through the illness.
I've had cories swim at the top when they want to eat floating food.

Re: Advice
you can move filters, fish, water, plants, heater into a tub while you remove about 3 inches of dirt and i would add some smaller gravel to have a more effective capping. I think the high temp isnt all bad as Marcos in brazil kept his clowns in rio where discus come from and they were all healthy.

Re: Advice
it might be the nutrients leaching into the water from the soil. you only need one inch of soil for plants to thrive well and it might not be capped well enough and bottom feeders might eat the soil?

Re: Popping Noise.
My two big females gray out and "fight" occasionally but are always back on friendly terms straight afterwards. When hand feeding I notice the popping sound is synonymous with a strong sucktion. I think the sound is produced due to cavitation - the production of a shock wave. Thanks redshark. I'm t...
