What might eat cane toad tadpoles?
Fla people, you've got this problem- what eats the toxic eggs and tadpoles of toxic toads? SE Asia and northern south and central america have these toxic toads naturally- the predators should be (somewhat) prepared to eat them... yes?

There are mysteries introduced in a river up the road- I've tried them a couple of times, never with success. They got harassed until they croaked, then got 'et. Nerite snails do a lot better, but they also get any bits that come out of the shell (naughty bits, i think) ripped off/out- it just doesn...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Move to the tropics.

in 40 gallons you're space is already pretty small for modesta. Otherwise, I'd suggest good old fashioned clown loaches. They can hold their own and/or are indifferent to the Mod-squad's lunacy, and are big and school-y. First things first, get three more of the smallest mods you can find then start...

for hillstreams- how about putting a sludge of ground lettuce/carrot/zucchini etc... into a syringe and running lines along the lee side of a rock?

Folks, Where might one find information on toxicity of woods in the aquarium, and in particular hardwoods? 10 or 14 golf-ball sized snails went in last week, and not I'm a little surprised at how clean my glass is. 2 have succumbed (Synodontis was culprit, i think) and one has still to come out of it's shell. Rest very happy & mobile.... & hungry.

If one mystery snail dies, will the other snails eat it?
Do they eat dead fish or just fish-food?

Great minds think alike, apparently: Arowana (South American) are already on the programme. So are clown and Y. modesta (loaches) and panaque (royal/mango) for the bottom.

Looks familar- I've got a couple of these Hydor koralia in the same position but in the back, blowing along the back wall. Everybody loves it. The green algae is even the same, but your use of sand is keeping it in check over the bottom. I'm getting rid of the gravel from my mixed substrate for this...

Carp are temperate. This system originally had koi, but it was way too warm for them in the summertime. And they have a reputation for eating plants as well. I also have an innate and entirely irrational dislike for them.

Yup. Reds apparently max out at about 40-50cm. I'm not worried though; I've got 4500Gal to play with...
