Re: Where do you find your loaches?
If you email the owner of the wet spot ( contact info on the site) he can get way more than just the ones he has in stock. Wet spot is my local LFS and they have gotten me fish I couldn't find anyplace. Also the level of care they provide to there stock is unheard of at most places. i was emailing ...

Where do you find your loaches?
i've been having trouble locating Hillstream loaches that are not sewellia lineolata, or the "Borneo sucker/hillstream loach/butterfly loach". i have been hoping for Pseudogastromyzon cheni, Pseudogastromyzon myersi, or Gastromyzon punctulatus. i've been to wetspot, mzjinkzd, rarefish.com, live aqua...

Re: The Dream Tank Begins
I drilled out a few holes in my river tank manifold, I did the same as you and used a cannister filter, and put some airlines into the outflow piping near the return nozzles. Now I have strong water flow and a butt ton of bubbles that my loaches love, It reminds me of the bottom of waterfall in a b...

Re: The Dream Tank Begins
Many smaller rocks gives hillstream fishes (and any other bottom dwellers that like rocks for that matter) more areas to hide and feel comfortable on. Having said that, many of the hillstream loaches seem to be found in areas where the bottom of the stream is essentially a smooth rock surface. They...

Re: a few rookie questions
i had only seen hillstream associated with Sewellia lineolata, and kind of assumed that it only referred to Sewellia lineolata. but it can mean all of the loaches that rasp? i have been keeping mine (as i said in my other post) with rummy noses, who seem to avoid the high at almost all costs. Unless...

a few rookie questions
when referring to the Gastromyzon borneensis,Beaufortia kweichowensis,Sewellia lineolata and such, is there a nickname that refers to that body type? or is that just lovingly called sucker loach? when stocking this style of fish, do the same stocking rules apply as for other fish? do you stock more ...

Re: The Dream Tank Begins
i guess my question is, is one large smooth rock river bed better than a bunch of varying size like your river tanks?

Re: The Dream Tank Begins
i've been keeping them in that set up with those fish for about 8 months give or take, at this point i have not seen the aggression you speak of. so i would imagine i will be okay migrating everyone one to larger tank. i tend to keep my tank in the 72/74 range, thats about as cold as i can get a tan...
