Numbers do not actually match your numbers, but look at the concept: The changes in TDS become stable, at some number higher than the tap water Hi Diana I have done some calculations thanks to your advice. If I do 2 x 20% water changes every week - in 5 weeks time (if all goes well) I should find t...

Diana/ Chefkeith

Thank you so much! :)

I will let you know of my findings with the rocks in the tank.

I will do 2 20% water changes instead of my usual 1 x 25%.

Thanks again

It seems you have plenty of "extra stuff" in your aquarium water. You might want to try to determine the cause of it. It's usually from either fish waste, leaching, or evaporation. Thanks. So, should I try to be getting my 'ppm' to roughly the same as my tap water? I do have a root in the tank, but...

tds table

Hello I read a post not that long ago that gave a link to a TDS table. Does anyone have this link? I cant find it  I have had a TDS meter for xmas! 8) :) (as requested :) ) and have tested my tap water (85ppm) and my tank water before (154ppm) and after cleaning (132ppm) - I was hoping this is ...

how can it be? 100ppm is shocking! I thought 60-80ppm was bad enough.

nitrates between 60 - 80ppm!!

I recently went to one of my LFS' and purchased some new pygmy corys and lampeyes. :D I have recently posted a topic about some lampeyes I have bought several months ago and how I have not had much luck with them these past months. I have kept lampeyes for several years and have never had problems w...

lampeye panchax

Hello I have kept the little blue lampeye dudes for sometime now and have recently bought a small exta bunch of 10. Unfortunately quite a number of them perished - 2 the first night, then 1 unfortunately must have been cornered by the others and got stuck between suckers on the filter/ powerhead and...

can anyone help?

I am unfortunately unable to keep my clown and yoyo loaches. I had originally planned to give my loaches to my boyfriend (now ex) to go in his 5ft (approx) tank. He is now getting very small rasboras and no longer wants the loaches (understandably). I then planned to upgrade to a bigger tank and hav...

ta

the juwel filters on the smaller tanks have too low a flow rate for clown loaches realy Yes that is my concern - I have 2 power-heads in my juwel tank atm and am still not entirely happy. I will be looking into getting a juwel rio 240 and adding an external filter too(and probably an extra power-he...

thanks

Why not just purchase the stand with the Juwel 240 (better choice) and ignore the Fluval deep duo 1200 (the hoods are crap). You can add an additional internal filter with a good power-head on it. Or you can remove the Juwel filter from inside and use a external filter. Nice pictures btw! 8) Thanks...

canister

yeah, you're right Diana - please can you explain about the canister? I have only ever had internal juwel filters to deal with and this will all be new to me. I do have a solution - but it is a costly one - a friend of mine makes me a cabinet (i didnt/ dont want an mdf standard cabinet :( ) - to hou...

Thanks Sea sprite - my clown is about 1.5 years old (ish) only approx 3.5 inch. I am hoping this is 'normal' :) The little dude with the cory is indeed a false SAE - a very entertaining fish  I hope to move the lot into another tank within the month. I have read this article on moving fish to b...
